CHANDIGARH,January 2, 2021: Today, early morning greeted Chandigarh with dense fog and over 150 young School students and teachers on bicycles spreading the message of ‘Clean & Green Chandigarh’. This ‘Swacch Bharat Cyclothon’ was organized from Parade Ground to Sukhna Lake by Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration & Yuvsatta-an NGO. In which students and teachers joined from KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Dhanas, Govt. Girls Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 18C, CL Aggarwal DAV Model School & AKSIPS 41 Smart School, Chandigarh.

Mr. Debendra Dalai, CCF cum Director, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest and flagged-off the ‘Swacch Bharat Cyclothon’ from parade ground. Addressing the participants with New Year Greetings, Mr. Dalai shared that this early morning New Year start on a green note by young ones shows the enthusiasm and commitment of generation next for a green and clean environment. And world over young people are coming forward to awaken the masses. He further added that we the residents of Chandigarh should also become agents of change by walking or cycling for short distances, segregating our waste and saying ‘No’ to single use plastics.

On the occasion Sh. Debendra Dalai also honoured the incharge teachers of participating Schools. Later when the ‘Swacch Bharat Cyclothon’ ended, the organizers presented gifts of masks and sanitizers to all participants. Five following student participants were also honoured for their overall best participation at Sukhna Lake;
