CHANDIGARH,06.11.20-In the Meeting today, Sh Debendra Dalai IFS, Director Environment, and Chief Conservator of Forests, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Chamber of Chandigarh Industries, supported Innovative ideas for an Eco friendly Diwali.

He endorsed that this Diwali, we are saying no to crackers; we are encouraging planting different seeds instead, which are so useful, healthy and beautiful.

A young Environmentalist and entrepreneur, Ms Tanika Bansal (Ph no. 88000-10979) has come out with the innovative ideas of "BEEJ PATAKA" and DIYAS, during her presentation to Shri Dalai. He was highly impressed with the ideas of the gen next, appreciated and extended support in her endeavour.

There are different types of seeds, (in the shape of chakri, anaar, potli bomb, sutli bomb, ladi, pop pop, phooljhadi, rocket) which can be planted in pots or gardens, and will bloom into different types of:

1. Flowers like Double Daisy, Poppy, Lily, Lavender, Chamomile;

2. Herbal plants like Ashwagandha, Basil, Peppermint, Marjoram;

3. Fruits like Pomegranate, Guava, Papaya, Sitafal, Strawberry, Lemon,

4. Vegetables like Broccoli, Asparagus, red/yellow Capsicum, Beetroot, Zucchini, Amla, Lemon, Tulsi;

5. Spices like Indigo, Cardamom, Neem, Amla. Still other seeds include medicinal plants like Aloe Vera, Wheat grass.

There are wonderful hand crafted Diyas made from ghee & bees wax, which are good for the environment as they purify the air we breathe; and out of the cotton wick and terracotta (maati of India).
