Chandigarh, October 1: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, on behalf of the people of the state, has congratulated President, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind on his 76th birthday.

In a message issued here today, Chief Minister said that President, Mr. Kovind has been active in the politics of the country for a long time and he has left an indelible mark by serving people while holding various positions. In spite of being President, his gesture of touching the feet of his mentors on the occasion of Teachers' Day presented a unique example of India's ancient ‘Guru- Shishya' tradition and enchanted everyone.

The Chief Minister said that even as an educationist, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind has also taken a unique initiative of implementation of new 'National Education Policy 2020' through virtual conferencing in the wake of Corona Pandemic. He said that every citizen of the country should be proud of such a President. The Chief Minister also wished him a healthy and long life.

Chandigarh October 1: Haryana Government has decided to celebrate “Swachhta Pakhwada” in all cities of the State from October 2, 2020 to October 17, 2020 to mark the 151st Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” from Panchkula tomorrow that is October 2, 2020.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Urban Local Bodies Department said that Member of Parliament (MP), Ministers, MLA and other dignitaries would simultaneously inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” in different districts of the State while strictly following the social distancing norms in view the current Covid-19 situation.

He said that besides Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr Gian Chand Gupta and Member, State Level Task Force (SLTC), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Mr Narender Pachaar would be present at the inauguration of “Swachhta Pakhwada” in Panchkula.

He said that all the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and District Municipal Commissioners in the State have been directed to carry out various activities in their respective cities during the “Swachhta Pakhwada”. These include mass awareness drives and citizen engagement initiatives including cleanliness drives, cleaning of the chocked sewers as well as open drains and maintenance of the sewerage system. He said that members of The State Level Task Force under Swachh Bharat Mission and other local representatives of the area would also be involved during the campaign.

Chandigarh, October 1: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala has directed the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) appointed in all the districts of the state to achieve the target of their respective works under MGNREGA within the next two months. While appreciating the good work done by the officers, he also questioned those who had shown laxity in their work.

The Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the portfolio of Development & Panchayats Department was presiding over the meeting organized to review the works to be done under MGNREGA through various departments today. On this occasion, the Chief Executive Officers of all districts were also connected through video conferencing.

The Deputy Chief Minister was apprised in the meeting that about 6 lakh MGNREGA job cards have already been issued in the state. This time, 4.80 lakh job-card holders were given employment under the MGNREGA scheme till September 30, 2020, while 3.64 lakh people got work in the previous year till March 31, 2020. For the first time, more than 4 lakh people have been given work , and that too in just 6 months.

He was also apprised that a target of Rs 1200 crore has been set for the work to be done under the MGNREGA this year and so far, Rs 300 crore has been spent in only 6 months while Rs 387 crore were spent last time in the whole year.

Mr. Dushyant Chautala directed all the Chief Executive Officers of the district to ensure that they prepare a detailed report of compliance of the outstanding works of their districts and send them to the headquarters within the next 10 days. He also directed the officers that they should get more and more work done in rural areas under MGNREGA by working with the officers of the Development and Panchayat Department and various Panchayats. He also directed the officers of the Forest Department to focus on works like developing nursery and plantation in their respective areas.

He said that if a job-card holder applies for work under MGNREGA and the concerned department fails to deliver the work within the time period as per the rules, the department will have to pay the applicant sitting at home.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Works (Building and Roads) Department Mr. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Mr. Devender Singh, Principal Secretary, Haryana Development and Panchayat Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, Mr. Raja Sekhar Vundru, Director, Rural Development, Mr. Hardeep Singh, and various senior officers were also present.

Timely disposal of problems faced by common people and curbing corruption is the priority of the State Government. Therefore, officers and employees at both Headquarter level and District Administration should address the problems of common people on priority basis and ensure immediate disposal and speed up their working,” said the new Chief Secretary.

Mr. Vijai Vardhan is a graduate and post-graduate in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University. Prior to joining the Indian Police Service in 1984 he represented his College in Badminton, Squash, Boxing and Athletics. In the year 1985, he joined the Indian Administrative Service and was allocated the Haryana cadre.

In his distinguished career, Mr. Vijai Vardhan has held important assignments like Secretary to Governor of Haryana, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Chairman, Haryana State Pollution Control Board and Principal Secretary Tourism and Renewable Energy Departments.

As Administrator, Haryana Urban Development Authority, Gurgaon and Panchkula, he was instrumental in catalyzing the industrial, residential and commercial development of Gurugram, Panchkula and various other towns of Haryana. While posted as Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad and Municipal Commissioner, Faridabad, he took several initiatives in the urban development of Faridabad.

Mr. Vijai Vardhan was chosen by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to undergo an advanced course in Urban Development and Regeneration in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Mr. Vijai Vardhan has contributed to the preservation and propagation of our heritage by conceiving the Pinjore Heritage Festival, Kartik Utsav at Raja Nahar Singh's Palace, Ballabgarh, Faridabad and by restoring the ancient Mata Mansa Devi Temple at Panchkula (near Chandigarh) and the Mughal Gardens of Pinjore.

The new Chief Secretary was earlier posted as Additional Chief Secretary of departments of Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation, Administration of Justice and Financial Commissioner Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Haryana.

A keen historian, Mr. Vijai Vardhan has authored seven books till now. His collection of Sufi Haiku poems in English titled, 'Beyond the Great Beyond' and Tbadat The Breath of My Soul' have been greatly appreciated by critics and readers alike.

He has also authored three well researched monographs about the history and heritage of Haryana titled 'Buddha's Trail in Haryana, The Magnificent Monuments of Narnaul and 'RakhiGarhi Rediscovered'. "Happening Haryana" his latest book captures the history of Haryana from the Harappan age to the present days.

Chandigarh, October 1 - Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. Vijai Vardhan said that Information Education Communication (IEC) activities will be accelerated in the State so as to make people aware about the containment of COVID-19 Pandemic. Besides this, directions will be issued to Divisional Commissioners and District Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance of the COVID-19 guidelines issued by Central Government. In addition, they should work closely with other stakeholder departments to make the campaign ‘Appropriate Behavior for COVID-19’ successful in the districts.

Mr. Vijai gave this information during in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Rajiv Gauba, Cabinet Secretary of India with the Chief Secretaries of all the states with regard to the intensive and focussed campaign on COVID-19 through video conferencing here today.

Mr. Rajiv Gauba said that a nationwide campaign will be launched by the Central Government from October 7, 2020 to make citizens aware of prevention of corona virus in the country. For this, all the Chief Secretaries should speed up all Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities in their respective states and ensure dissemination of maximum information regarding the same. He directed the States to ensure maximum use of Arogya Setu mobile app, encourage people to get their testing done and use the remedies as prescribed by AYUSH Department to increase immunity.

It was informed that this campaign has been started in view of the possibility of spread of Corona virus due to the upcoming festival season. The most important way to contain COVID-19 infection is to remain careful and vigilant and to do this a change in the behavior of the people is required so that people can understand the seriousness of this crisis and follow the guidelines issued by the government from time to time.

In the meeting, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. Vijai Vardhan informed that participation of religious leaders, renowned sports personalities and Non-Governmental Organizations will also be ensured for successful implementation of this campaign. Apart from this, work will also be done to make people aware through social media. He informed that a detailed action plan about IEC activities will be prepared and sent to the Central Government.

He informed that there is no shortage of production and availability of medical and liquid oxygen in Haryana and adequate arrangement of oxygen in government and private hospitals is being ensured by the State Government.

In this series, various competitions of school students will be organized at the block level by October 5, 2020 in Haryana. The participants will have to upload their entries on website: www.mynep.in by October 2, 2020.

Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of Department of School Education, Haryana said that the Government of India has implemented the National Education Policy -2020, keeping in view of overall development of Students. Following the same, 'My New Education Policy Competition' is being organized in 13 languages across the country. These competitions will be on 'India-Centric Education', 'Holistic Education', 'Knowledge-Based Society' and 'Quality Education' subjects.

According to the spokesperson, competition events include two-minute speech, handmade posters, letters to the Prime Minister, 300-word essay and meme-making contest for class 9th to 12th students. He said that Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 will be awarded as first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively. These awards will be given separately in every language and participation certificate will also be given to all the participants. Giving this information, an official spokesperson said that registration for e-auctions for BPL and EWS applicants will be free and General applicants will have to pay a fee of Rs 1000. Validity of registration will be one year, he added.

He said that the e-bidding for e-auction of houses in Ambala (Baldev Nagar), Sector-6, 14 and 20 of Panchkula, and Sector-19 of Sirsa will be on October 15, 2020. Apart from this, e-bidding for shops in Sector-19 of Sirsa will also be done on the same day, he added.

He said that detailed information related to e-auctions is available on the Haryana Housing Board’s website http://hbh.gov.in. He said that the applicants who have not filled the allotment amount under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), can now take possession of the flat by depositing the amount by 31, October 2020.
