Governor and CM greet President on his birthday

Governor Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur have greeted President Ram Nath Kovind on his birthday.

Governor Bandaru Dattatraya while wishing the President on his birthday has lauded his services towards the country with diligence and determination. He said that Shri Kovind is admired across the spectrum for his intellect and prayed almighty to bless him with a long and healthy life.

In his message, Chief Minister said that Ram Nath Kovind is a compassionate person working towards upliftment of the weaker section of the society.

Jai Ram Thakur prayed for his long life and good health.


Maximum people to be connected for inaugural ceremony of Atal Tunnel Rohtang through various means of social media: CM

As many as 90 LED Screens would be established in all the district headquarters, assembly constituencies’ headquarters and important places of the State so that people of the State could witness the historic occasion of dedication of Atal Tunnel Rohtang by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3rd of this month. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today while addressing Ministers, State BJP President, MLAs and BJP candidates for assembly elections-2017 and other office bearers of BJP of the State through video conferencing from Shimla.

Chief Minister said that the party functionaries must ensure that maximum of 200 persons at each venue witness this historic event by maintaining social distancing and using face masks. He said that efforts should also be made to connect maximum people by various means of social media to watch the inaugural ceremony and address of the Prime Minister.

Jai Ram Thakur said that during the Covid-19 pandemic this was the third public function of the Prime Minister after Ayodhya, which shows the importance of this tunnel for the Nation and also the benevolence of the Prime Minister towards the people of the State. He said the event would have been a magnificent but corona pandemic has forced us to strictly follow the norms of social distancing.

Chief Minister also urged the party functionaries to ensure adequate coverage in the social media regarding messages welcoming the Prime Minister for inaugurating the Atal Tunnel Rohtang and once the same is inaugurated expressing gratitude towards the Prime Minister for the same.

Jai Ram Thakur said that Prime Minister would be inaugurating the Atal Tunnel at 10 AM on 3rd October, address public meeting at Sissu in Lahaul-Spiti district at 1200 Noon and address public meeting at Solang at 1.15 PM.

State BJP President Suresh Kashyap, while welcoming the Chief Minister, urged party functionaries to ensure maximum participation of the event at their respective places to make it a mega show.

CM directs DCs to ensure proper arrangements

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the meeting with Deputy Commissioners of the State through video conferencing from Shimla today directed them to ensure proper sitting arrangements at all the 90 venues earmarked for LED screens installed by the Information and Public Relations Department for live telecast of dedication of Atal Tunnel Rohtang by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3rd October.

Jai Ram Thakur asked them to ensure social distancing and use of face masks by the people in these venues. He said that it should be ensured that the live telecast of the event be made available at headquarters of panchayats of the State. He said that district administration must ensure coordination with the Information and Public Relations for its live telecast.

Chief Minister said that Deputy Commissioners must direct SDMs and BDOs of concerned districts to make elaborate arrangements for sitting of the people in these venues. He said that people should be motivated to watch live telecast on their social media handle so that maximum people could witness this event.

Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister J.C. Sharma, Advisor to Chief Minister Dr. R.N. Batta and Director Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon were also present on the occasion.


UD Minister reviews livelihood schemes

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj reviewed much ambitious Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana (MMSAGY) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY- NULM) in a review meeting held today.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that both of these schemes are related to employment and pave the way for Atma Nirbhar Bharat. The Minister said that the State Government launched Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana in May this year. This scheme is aimed at providing the guaranteed employment in urban areas. Elaborating further about the scheme, he said that 120 days job guarantee has been assured to residents of urban local bodies within 15 days of issuance of job cards, failing which Rs. 75 per day will be paid as unemployment allowance.

While reviewing this scheme, Urban Development Minister informed that a total 3545 people have been registered under this scheme in all urban local bodies, out of which 2,447 have been issued job cards across the state. Total 2099 people were assigned the work, out of which 1808 have accepted the job. 1009 have accepted the infrastructure related work while the remaining 799 went for sanitation related jobs in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state under this scheme.

Suresh Bhardwaj directed officials to remove all hurdles if any, so that more people could be benefited with this scheme. “This is a new scheme. We need to popularize it,” he added.

While reviewing Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods mission (DAY- NULM), the Urban Development Minister directed officials to find ways to make the scheme successful during COVID-19. He said that Himachal Pradesh has been achieving its targets under this scheme and efforts are on to bring more people under its ambit. In Financial year 2020-21, Rs. 1.54 crore has been spent under this scheme while Rs. 3.64 crore is yet unspent.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that 324 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed in the Financial year 2020-21 so far against the target of 200. The scheme also works as a support system for urban street vendors. As many as 4054 identity cards have been issued to the vendors so far besides the 3798 certificates. As per a survey, 5790 street vendors have been identified across the 54 ULBs.

Urban Development Minister said that 5000 street vendors in 30 towns have been trained on solid waste management rules, health and hygiene.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that MMSAGY and DAY- NULM would be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Secretary Urban Development Rajneesh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Shimla Pankaj Rai were present during the meeting along with other officials.


On advice of PM former CMs to abstain from inaugural function of Tunnel

A spokesman of the State Government said here today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicating the Atal Tunnel Rohtang on 3rd October of this month to the nation and in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, proper social distancing norms were being followed during the whole event.

The spokesman said that the State Government had invited all the Ministers, former Chief Ministers and MLAs to this event besides limited number of local residents of Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts.

He said that Prime Minister has personally advised the former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal to avoid their personal presence in this function in the wake of pandemic. He said that on the advice of Prime Minister both the former Chief Ministers had decided to abstain from the event and witness the event virtually.
