CHANDIGARH,30.09.20-The Department of Computer Science and Applications, under the aegis of Swachhta Committee, of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a national level online Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Computer Cleaning: Ins and outs”. The objective of the competition was to create awareness about physical and logical cleaning of computers especially during COVID-19 times when the use of computers has become more pervasive than ever before. Over 42 entries were received for the competition wherein the participants were required to suggest various approaches that could be followed for physical and logical (data) cleaning of the system, decluttering the system for easy retrieval of information and utilities/services for optimising system storage. Seeking to encourage students to make computer cleaning part and parcel of their daily routines, the competition's judgement rubrics included relevance to the theme, originality of idea and expression. The winners were awarded cash prizes and e-certificates were awarded to the participants.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative, terming it an important step in the direction of raising awareness about managing the functioning of computer systems in a better way for enhanced performance. She added that this competition reinforces MCM's crusade for the cause of Swachhta in all aspects of life.
