SHIMLA,25.09.20-The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla organized an e-Colloquium on Friday, the 25th of September 2020 to commemorate the seventieth year of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Colloquium was the part of a larger series of events that HPNLU has organized to re-emphasize the significance of the eleven Fundamental Duties enshrined under Article 51 A of the Constitution of India. Today’s event was centered around a thorough discussion over the duty of every citizen to defend the country and to render national service when called upon to do so.

Professor (Dr) Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, Shimla delivered the Welcome Address where she laid the background of the ideal of national service and its relevance in the contemporary Indian context. Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest in the Colloquium. In his speech, he highlighted the need to render national service even when not specifically called upon to do so. Professor (Dr) Sanjay Sindhu, Director, HPUILS, Shimla; Dr K P Singh, former DGP, Haryana; Lt. Gen. B S Jaswal (Retd.) also addressed the audience and shared their thoughts. Dr Ruchi Sapahia and Dr Ambika coordinated the event. Registrar of the University, Professor S S Jaswal delivered the vote of thanks.
