CHANDIGARH,23.09.20-In a unique event symbolising the triumph of human will as rather than being bogged down by the pandemic ridden times, to induct the newcomers into the quintessential culture and ethos of the institution, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women hosted an online Induction Programme 2020. Youth Ambassador and Motivational Speaker from University of Oxford, UK, Ms. Pratistha Deveshwar graced the infotainment extravaganza as the Special Guest. The programme began with an introductory video of the college to provide the newcomers glimpses of the great institution that they have become a part of now. In a highly inspiring and lively discourse, Ms. Pratistha Deveshwar spoke on 'The Power of Positivity and Never Giving Up', striking a chord with the students who have joined the college with the dreams of making it big in life. Ms. Deveshwar went on to share with the newcomers that life is a roller coaster ride and one should realise the potential of positivity in facing even the severest of challenging situations in life. Narrating her own story of losing the ability to walk at the age of 13 and overcoming the challenge of disability coupled with fighting the society's perception of disabled persons and the stereotypes attached therewith, Ms. Deveshwar said that she decided that if she cannot walk, she would grow wings and fly. Maintaining a journal of abilities, listening to the voice within that reaffirms one's ability to accomplish the undoable, daring to dream and chasing that dream, and lighting up the entire universe with one's spark of kindness were the practical life lessons that Ms. Deveshwar shared with the students for bringing positivity in one's life. A feisty skit with a touch of humour introducing the freshers to the college rules, melodious song performances, dance performance, poetry recitation and games won the hearts of all the viewers. The Deans and Conveners of various committees and clubs were also introduced to the students.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava informed that the institution is working incessantly for the holistic development of its stakeholders. Welcoming the newcomers to this great seat of learning, Dr. Bhargava implored them to carry forward the rich legacy of this illustrious institution in a befitting manner and to write this new chapter of their life pragmatically. In her warm and affectionate address, Dr. Bhargava also motivated the students to realise their potential as the youth have the ability to dream and to achieve the impossible. Dr. Bhargava ended her speech on a poetic note with her self-composed motivational poem 'subah ki roshni' that touched the hearts of the audience.
