*Residents to call 10 of their friends/relatives and advise them on the good practices of preventing dengue.
*Last year, a similar cooperation from all citizens of Delhi played a huge role in reducing the impact of Dengue in the city.
*CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal kickstarted the campaign on Sept 6 by inspecting his residence at 10 AM for 10 minutes for stagnant clean water.
NEW DELHI,19.09.20-Following a huge participation from the citizens of Delhi in the second week of the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute anti-dengue campaign of the Delhi government, the 10-week mass awareness campaign enters into its third week. Launching the campaign on September 6, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal inspected his residence for signs of stagnant clean water to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes at 10 AM on Sunday for 10 minutes.
Taking to social media last week, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted, "Today on the second Sunday of the campaign against dengue, I inspected my house again and replaced the accumulated water. It only took me 10 minutes, you must also check your house. Dengue will lose and Delhi will win once again." Some preventive measures for dengue include draining stagnant water from home, surroundings, and vases, changing the water stored in coolers, or adding a small layer of oil or petrol in the accumulated water, and always covering the water tanks with a lid.
In the third week, the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign seeks to engage residents to pick up the phone and call 10 of their friends/relatives and advise them on the good practices of preventing dengue. Last year, the similar cooperation and collective measures from all people, RWAs, religious and cultural associations, ministers and MLAs and public leaders and influencers had played a huge role in reducing the impact of Dengue in the city, with only 2036 cases and two deaths as against 15867 cases and 60 deaths in 2015. The first edition of the anti-dengue campaign was launched in 2019.
Last week, the Delhi government had also launched a telephonic helpline - 01123300012 and WhatsApp helpline - 8595920530 to assist the general public for Dengue.
*On every Sunday, under the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign*
-Change the clean stagnant water in the house every Sunday.
-The dengue mosquito thrives in clean stagnant water, and so the water deposited in the pots, coolers, A/C, tires, vases, etc., should be drained and replaced by people every week.
-Add a small layer of oil/petrol in the accumulated water.
-Always cover the water tank with a lid.
-After inspecting their own houses, people shall promptly call 10 of their friends. With the cooperation of all, dengue could be eliminated in the city.
