CHANDIGARH,13.08.20-Chandigarh Police initiated a program in collaboration with Indian Oil Cooperation with the motto “बेटिया भी छु सकती है आकाश” that aims to empower girls by imparting them Job-linked training and making them stand on their feet. This programme envisages making women self-reliant and independent.

Chandigarh Police is pledged not only to provide safety and security to women in the city but also working for the uplifting women by providing skill development training free of cost and creating several job opportunities. Till time Chandigarh Police has provided 231 jobs to victims of crime, needy people and school drop outs for securing their future and make them self-sufficient.

The expected outcome of this training programme :-

  • Emotional and Mental upliftment.
  • Job security.
  • Rejuvenation into main streamline of society.
  • Good Health

Initially a job linked training in which selected 37 female candidates were imparted three days training on 17/20/21.07.2020 which consisted of theory and practical training conducted by Indian Oil Cooperation at company owned company operated (COCO) Petrol Pump situated at IT Park Chandigarh. During training, lunch and refreshments were also provided by the company to the candidates.

Break-up of the selected candidates is as follows:-

v 29 candidates are wards of Police personnel.

v 5 candidates trained under PMKVY.

v 3 candidates of economically weaker sections and victims of crime.

Today i.e 13.08.2020, distribution function of appointment letters to the selected 37 girls was organized at Multi-purpose Hall, Police Lines Sector 26 under the chairmanship of Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh accompanied by Sh. Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG/UT, Ms. Nilambari Vijay Jagadala, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Sujoy Chaudhary, Executive Director & State Head, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Cooperation and Sh. Amrinder Kumar, General Manager, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Cooperation. Benefits of this scheme were conveyed to all participants.

A short video regarding Indian Oil Cooperation and training process of the selected candidates was played.

While addressing the candidates DGP/Chandigarh has encouraged all the candidates to give their 100% dedication towards their job, so that their caliber will be appreciated by company and they could further succeed in the appointed job. He also wished them for a better and self reliant life in future. He also congratulated the candidates for getting appointment letters with their hard work they have done during training. He also appreciated and thanked IOC for providing this type of platform to the wards of police personnel and needy ones. W/DGP praised continuous efforts by SSP UT Ms. Nilambari Jagadale in spearheading “Community policing projects” in Chandigarh.

Mr. Sujoy Chaudhary Executive Director & State Head, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Cooperation addressed the selected candidates and thanked Chandigarh Police for this co-ordination and support for the successful initiative. He also delivered a morale booster speech for all the selected girls.

Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Nilambari Vijay Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT. She thanked all the delegates for gracing their presence in this function and awarding appointment letters to the selected candidates and sharing their vision on women empowerment.

Appointment letters along with uniform kits were handed over by the Chief Guest Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/UT and other present delegate officials to the selected female candidates.

Prior to this, Chandigarh Police had initiated program under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana for the upliftment of the society i.e. “SAHYOG” to engage youths by imparting and upgrading their skills as per their natural caliber. The programme envisages to bridge the gap between youth and law enforcing agencies and to enable their re-integration into the mainstream and to prevent their digression against the law. Job-linked training in various sectors like Healthcare, Retail, Hospitality and Beauty & Wellness was conducted by training partners registered with NSDC at fully equipped training class-rooms situated at Police Station 26, 34 & Police Post 24 Chandigarh

On 20.06.2019 a Mega Job Fair was organized at Police Lines Sector-26 Chandigarh. In this Mega Job Fair 29 national and multinational companies participated and 243 candidates under various courses appeared for interview and 484 offer letters were given to these candidates by participating companies. Except this regular interviews are being conducted for candidates who passed out. Future Plan - Approval for 1920 candidates is awaited.

Till time 980 youth (School Dropouts, Victim of Crime, Juvenile delinquents, Families in Dire need, Drug Addicts or youth in high risk category of becoming drug addicts) of different age groups have been imparted Job-linked training out of which 765 candidates have been trained till now and 215 are being trained at well equipped 03 centres. 4th centre has been developed in Police Station 3 and will be functional soon.

IOC thanked Chandigarh Police department for protecting and serving the Chandigarh Citizens and also extended invaluable support to the Chandigarh police by providing 2000 COVID-19 safety kits consisting of masks, Gloves & Sanitizers to the Chandigarh Police warriors for fighting the COVID battle from the forefront Sh. Sujoy Chaudhary, Executive Director & State Head, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Cooperation along with Sh. Amrinder Kumar, General Manager, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Cooperation handed over the above items to Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh
