Admission to PU-CET (UG) courses under NRI / Foreign Nationals Category in PU commences on 14th August

Admission to Panjab University CET-UG courses under NRI/Foreign Nationals category seats is as per details below,informed Prof Prince Sharma,Dean Sciences :

  • Admission form will be available from 14.08.2020 at for the NRI / Foreign National candidates who were not in India during the period of registration for admission. Those who were in India shall register himself / herself to make him / her eligible for filling the admission form.
  • After filling the Admission Form, complete in all respect, the candidate is required to send the printout of the admission form along with relevant documents to
  • Eligibility criteria for NRI / Foreign Nationals is available at page No. 28 and 29 of Handbook of Information 2020, Part A available at
  • In case of ward of Foreign National / NRI, the candidate has to submit an Affidavit and Undertaking from the Guardian, which is available at Annexure A & B.
  • NRI / Foreign Nationals shall compete amongst themselves for admission to various courses. Their inter-se merit shall be determined on basis of the score obtained in SAT- II (Scholastic Aptitude Test-II) with permissible combination of subjects, conducted by the Education Testing Servicefrom Princeton, USA. In case of Foreign Nationals (non English speaking states), TOEFL / IELTS score should also be produced.

Panjab University Alumni Association organised a webinar “Where There is a Will There's a Way: Experience Sharing of Covid 19 Battle" by Dr. G.D. Puri, Prof. and Head, Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Chairman, Advanced Cardiac Centre, Dean (Academic), PGIMER, Chandigarh. He is also the Chairman, Biomedical Instrumentation and Devices Hub – A Centre for innovation, design and clinical validation.

Dr. Puri has been working as faculty in dept of anaesthesia and intensive care at PGIMER since 1986. He is a well-known cardiothoracic anaesthesiologist in India and a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), New Delhi, India, as well as a Fellow of the Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI), London. DrPuri designed the first practical closed loop anaesthesia delivery system (CLADS) in the world, which has been patented in his name, and has successfully undergone widespread testing in different medical institutions in India.

Prof.Deepti Gupta, Dean, Alumni Relations, introduced and welcomed Dr.Puri . Dr.Puri shared a presentation about his experience and strategies for preparing a dedicated Covid Hospital with existing and alternative resources, focusing on space, equipment, health care workers safety and patient care.

Dr Puri was given the responsibility of setting up the Covid 19 Care Centre at PGIMER and he spoke about how the available equipment was shifted from other parts of the hospital to set up the centre. He spoke about the training of the staff, planning and strategies involved to organise and isolate the care centre. He spoke about the importance of Team Work as people were afraid to go into such areas and the team leaders were always in the forefront. He spoke of the challenges faced by the PGI team like non availability of negative pressure rooms which they solved by using exhaust fans and opening windows to prevent recirculation of the virus from an infected person. Then there are challenges of operating in poor visibility due to the protective gear which the doctors still face. The strategies included training of the staff, monitoring all areas and procedures with CCTVs, gaining and sharing knowledge with doctors worldwide through webinars, motivating and recognising staff so that no one feels isolated or overwhelmed. Throughout the lockdown the work at PGI continued, even entrance and semester exams were not postponed.

The participants were full of praise and admiration for the PGI team and realised more than ever what doctors are facing all over the world. They asked a few questions which Dr.Puri answered to everyone’s satisfaction. Everyone thanked Dr.Puri. Sir concluded by saying that he is grateful to his team and he could not have done anything without them. Teamwork is the key to success.

The participants congratulated PUAA for organising the event. A vote of thanks was given to Dr.Puri by the PUAA team and the webinar ended.

Social reformer ,Avinash Rai Khanna presented his books titled Samaj Chintan and Anubhav to Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Punjab University ,Chandigarh, here today. His book Samaj Chintan focuses on improving the basic fabric of the society and is equally useful for all classes of readers. Avinash Rai Khanna is a former member of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha and also National Vice President of BJP, he is also BJP incharge of of Jammu Kashmir, Rajasthan and Goa.This book reflects the real life experiences which are valuable and awakening for readers and also it suggest solutions to the diverse problems. The book Anubhav includes all his experiences when he was associated with Punjab Human Rights from jails, hospitals and police stations. He has also discussed about human duties along with changes to be brought in with time, in his book.

Online Admission Schedule for B.A./B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.) 5-Years Integrated Course–2020

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the Panjab University has scrapped the UGLAW entrance test. For the timely start of the teaching session, the new admission schedule has been formulized, wherein admissions will be based on 10+2 examination result.

The candidates seeking admission to B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.) 5-Years Integrated Course - 2020 (other than those who have already applied for the UGLAW entrance test) have to register themselves at UGLAW at website by August 17, 2020 by submitting their information, deposit the registration fee by August 19, 2020, upload the photograph, signature and rest of the information by August 22, 2020 as per the revised schedule.

All the registered candidates (including those who have applied earlier for the UGLAW entrance test) will be allowed for filling the Admission Form. The Admission form will be available on UGLAW website from August 25, 2020 onwards. The candidates who have applied earlier and completed their form for the UGLAW entrance test will automatically considered as registered candidates and are eligible for filling of Admission Form.

Mandatory: All the registered candidates have to fill the Admission Form for consideration in the Admission process.
