SHIMLA,13.07.20-The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla is organising a 6-day Faculty Development Programme on 'Thematic Clinical Legal Education and Research' from 13-19 July 2020 vide online interactive medium. The programme was inaugurated today by the Hon'ble Chancellor L. Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and the Chancellor of HPNLU, Shimla. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Registrar, HPNLU, Shimla, Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal. Welcoming the Hon'ble Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal highlighted the need for Clinical Legal Education. Speaking at the inaugural session, Hon'ble Chancellor shared his experience about legal education and how it has been transformed from class-room teaching to clinical legal education, changing the pedagogy in the legal education system.

During the inaugural session, further, the Programme Coordinator, Dr. Girjesh Shukla, Dean of Academics, HPNLU, Shimla informed that 67 faculties in various law schools across the nation, including 5 National Law Universities, participated. The Faculty Development Programme will have a total of 14 Sessions in the coming six days on various themes related to clinical legal education.
