The Department of Art History and Visual Arts organized an International Webinar in conversation with Satadru Sovan Banduri, an international multi-disciplinary artist on "Space Inside Out Museum Space and Performance Art."

The entire conversation was curated and moderated by Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson of the department who is also a multidisciplinary artist and has curated shows on performance art. The talk was interdisciplinary and was well attended by national and international artists, researchers and scholars. The vote of thanks was presented by Professor Rajeev Patnaik .

A brief about Satadru Sovan.

He received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship at the University of California, and currently resides in New Delhi,India.

He spoke on the idea of enquiry and merger with the concepts of desire, fantasy, body, mind, global and social justice continuing action and amalgamation of South-Asian gender-dogma and sexuality.

His work comes from global cyberspace, social networking and psychedelic, Phantasmatic visions of race and gender performative narrative.The work integrates various means of communication and artistic production using physical environments, New-media technologies, and interactive narratives that prompt public engagement, dialogue, Video ,sound animation verse composition and reflection. Based on notions of geography, identity, gender roles, image appropriation, and the politics of body migration, he explore issues that affect diverse urban communities. He has attempted to showcase a segment of our society that refuses to be generalised. He used his body as a

communicative tool that utilises body, space, and action as a means of artistic expression my performative narrative .

SAIF/CIL, Panjab University Analytical Facility RESTARTS

Department of SAIF/CIL, Panjab University which is serving the scientific community throughout the country, has restarted its analytical facilities for its users which include Academia and Industries both, informed Prof. G.R. Chaudhary, Director SAIF/CIL .

Taking into account the huge demand of SAIF/CIL facility, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, visited the centre to ensure the safety procedures for handling the samples after they are received at the department in view of COVID19 pandemic situation.

Prof Chaudhary appraised that centre is fully prepared to collect, sanitize and analyze the samples with full safety. He told that the department of SAIF/CIL, under the expert guidance of Dr. Ramesh Sharma has developed UV sanitization chamber, which has been installed at the entry gate of the department on May 14, 2020. Prof. Chaudhary further added that in view of current pandemic situation, visitors cannot be allowed to visit the SAIF/CIL labs physically. However, samples will be entertained in non-contact mode. In this regard, following procedures will be adopted to analyze the samples:

1. Requisition form will be received online only. (Forms are available on the website: http://saif.puchd.ac.in/).

2. All payments will be received via online mode/digital mode. (Cash payments will not be preferred).

3. Users are not allowed to enter beyond the entry point of the department.

4. Samples will be collected at the entry point only. Samples via postal mail will also be entertained.

5. Sanitization of received samples will be carried out immediately on the receipt of the samples followed by UV sanitization to get rid of any infections.

6. Communication of users with technical staff will be through digital mode only.

The department of SAIF/CIL is ready to serve with all safety measures in place

300 PU Hostel Residents connected through Online Meeting

Panjab University Girls Hostel 4 (Kasturba Hall) organized 1st webinar in the series for the PU hostel residents today on the topic “Sharing secrets to well being in present Covid-19 scenario” in order to take maximum advantage of e-platforms during this time of Covid19 pandemic to connect and learn ways to tackle the present scenario for the welfare of PU students..

It included very informative and inspiring talk by DSW (Women), Prof. Sukhbir Kaur. She emphasized that healthy food, positive mind and exercise especially walk is the key to boost our immune system and we should resort to rich Ayurveda to stay fit. The residents interacted and were glad to get their diverse queries resolved while at home by DSW(W) and wardens in this pandemic.

The convener of webinar, Dr. Kavita Taneja, Warden GH4 encouraged the residents to utilize this time period for polishing their creative skills and exploit some innovative tools, technologies and platforms to cement their innovations for the betterment of academics and society.

Another endeavor in chain of events today were interactive sessions conducted by Dr. Kamla, Warden Girls Hostel 2, Dr. Namita Gupta, Warden Girls Hostel 6 and Dr. Anupama Bahri, Warden Girls Hostel 8 to motivate residents to stay happy, healthy and learn new skills while at home. The residents shared their determination about fighting this Pandemic with social distancing and learning through virtual classrooms. They were happy to connect with their wardens and fellow residents.

The online meeting initiative planned by DSW Prof. S. K. Tomar and DSW(W) Prof. Sukhbir Kaur was aimed at facilitating hostel residents to stay physically, mentally, spiritually, socially and emotionally healthy during this pandemic scenario. Nearly 300 students, wardens and hostel staff joined the interactive sessions and webinar virtually.

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University addressed the Google Meet on the topic, Indian Vision in Management Education as Chief Guest in the programme organized by the Education Culture Upliftment Trust and Faculty of Management Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, here today.

In his address, Prof. Kumar stressed upon the teachings of the Bhagwat Gita stating that they give clear reflection of Karma. Also, he quoted many examples of leadership and motivation from Ramayana and Mahabharta.

Further, Prof. Kumar concluded with the remarks that our holy scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Gita are full of inspiration & motivation and gives lots of managerial skills, tools, techniques and philosophy.
