Chandigarh, February, 27, 2020 -The inner market of Sector 8B has become the first market in Chandigarh and Tricity to be given the tag of ‘Clean Street Food Hub’.

The Certificate of merit in this regard has been issued by the Government of India on the basis of performance under FSSAI “CLEAN STREET FOOD HUB” initiative.

Dr G Dewan Director Health Services, Chandigarh conferred the certificate to Bal Krishan Malik president of the market welfare association. Naveen Singhal and SS Sibia of the Market welfare Association were also present on the occasion. Clean Street Food Hub is a country-wide initiative launched by the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India, and was implemented by the UT FDA in Chandigarh. The process for certifying the market started in September 2019 and the FDA, after the market met all norms, granted it the tag to the Market.

The Sector 8 market is among only 13 of its kind in the country which have been certified under the initiative so far. There are six in Gujarat, three in Maharashtra, and one each in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Chandigarh.

Chandigarh Administration Health Department U.T. Chandigarh has launched NetProFaN (Network of Professional of Food and Nutrition). The NetProFan will act as coordinating mechanism among the various organizations and associations who are currently working independently with their vision and objective in the field of Food and Nutrition.
