Chandigarh, February 17 - Haryana Chief Minister , Mr. Manohar Lal has approved the proposal to increase the diet-allowance of sportspersons participating in state and national-level school sports competitions.

While giving information about this, Haryana Education Minister Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the diet allowance of sportspersons participating in state-level school sports competition will be increased from Rs. 125 to Rs. 200 per day and for the players who participate in the national-level competition the allowance will be increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 per day. He said that the purpose of increasing the diet allowance is to provide a nutritious diet to the players.

The Education Minister said that the sportspersons of Haryana have been dominating in competition like, Khelo India, Asian, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games. Haryana has made it to the second place in Khelo-India in the last two years despite being a small state. He informed that the state government is providing facilities to students by developing interest in sports at the school level.

He said that sports are a part of every person's life and it is like food for the body. Just like food intake provides nutrition and energy to the body, sports help students ease-out mental burden and physical fatigue.

Education Minister Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the dietary allowance of sportspersons has been increased by the present state government, it will provide a wholesome diet to the players and their performance in sports will improve.

Haryana Police has busted a vehicle lifters gang who had duped more than half-a-dozen people by posing themselves as employees of a finance company. Police has also recovered seven vehicles from them.

Chandigarh, Feb 17 – With the arrest of five persons in Karnal, Haryana Police has busted a vehicle lifters gang who had duped more than half-a-dozen people by posing themselves as employees of a finance company. Police has also recovered seven vehicles from them.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused have confessed their involvement in six cases of vehicle theft. They had committed four incidents in district Karnal and two in Kuruksehtra district. The accused gang members were arrested by the crime unit following a tip-off from Meerut road, Karnal.

Police recovered five stolen bolero pick-up and two other vehicles from their possession. Their two other accomplices were also involved in these incidents of vehicle theft, who are still absconding. They will be arrested shortly.

Initial investigation revealed that accused Roopchand and Sandeep, who had worked at Tata Finance for about a year, have alongwith their aides formed the gang. They knew how the financier takes possession of the financed vehicle. Taking advantage of this information, they stopped the drivers and poses themselves as employee of finance company and told them first pay the outstanding installments then take the vehicle from the yard after showing the bank receipt. Thereafter, the accused used to escape from there by taking the vehicle. A case of attempt to murder was also registered against the accused Sonu in the district Kaithal, in which he was currently out on bail.

A case to this effect was registered and further probe into this matter is on.

Haryana Home Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that 64 police sniffer dogs will be added to the force so that they can be useful in preventing the smuggling of illegal drugs.

Chandigarh, February 17 - Haryana Home Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that 64 police sniffer dogs will be added to the force so that they can be useful in preventing the smuggling of illegal drugs. About Rs 5 crore will be spent annually on these, he added.

Mr. Vij said that in order to put a stop to the trade of illegal drugs in the state, Haryana Narcotics Bureau would be constituted. The Home Minister also said that approval has been given for the constitution of the Narcotics Bureau and a recommendation to include the posts of 64 Narcotic Sniffer Dog, 64 Dog Handlers, and 64 Kennel Men will be sent to the Finance Department.

Mr. Vij said that the Narcotic Bureau will be given a range of special powers that will help them fight the drug situation in the state. Apart from this, he said that strict action will be taken against those involved in the drug trade in the state. The Government is doing everything in its power to put a stop to the drug trade in the State.

Haryana Health Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that a cancer hospital will be opened in Tohana and its construction process is ongoing which will soon be completed.

Chandigarh, February 17: Haryana Health Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that a cancer hospital will be opened in Tohana and its construction process is ongoing which will soon be completed.

The Health Minister said that with the opening of the Cancer Hospital at Tohana, the patients will get treatment easily. He informed that at present, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Badsa in District Jhajjar is providing facilities for the treatment of the third stage of cancer to patients in the state. Apart from this, a new cancer hospital of the same grade is also being set up in Ambala and will be opened soon.

Mr. Vij said that all the hospitals in the state with more than 100 beds will be air-conditioned and all dysfunctional hospitals will be renovated to provide excellent health services to the people. He said that Cath lab, Trauma centers, and Hemodialysis centers will soon be started to provide treatment facilities to the people of the state near their homes.

He said that 400 wellness centers will be opened in the state. Out of these, 200 centers have been prepared and construction work of the remaining centers is in process. He informed that the doctors and other staff have been approved at these centers, who will provide excellent health services to the patients.

In a condolence message issued here today, Mr Manohar Lal said that Mr Khurshid Ahmed was the senior leader and as a Minister, he held important portfolios.

Mr Manohar Lal conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of bereaved family and prayed to the almighty that the departed soul might rest in peace.
