Career Development Cell (CDC) of the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS),
Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized Pre-placement talk and mentorship session with
Mr. Bharat Chugh, former Judge (Rank 1, Delhi Judicial Service Examination) and Partner
Designate at Luthra and Luthra Partners, New Delhi, one of the leading law firms of the
country which specializes in International Arbitration, Complex Commercial Litigation,
Corporate Criminal Liability and White Collar Crime, Anti-Corruption Law etc. The
session was organized with an aim to impart knowledge about various career pathways in
the field of law.
In his interaction, Mr. Chug deliberated upon various aspects of judgeship as well as
of lawyering. He focused upon how a judge as well as a lawyer needs to be empathetic,
compassionate and pragmatic at the same time rather than being purely mechanical in
their service. He also emphasized on using simple and clear language devoid of
unnecessary legal jargon in judgment writing so that it could become accessible and
reach out to common people. He interacted with students during the session and guided
them on their queries regarding the law profession and various career pathways of the

In an attempt to move to online payments for the ease of students, on trial basis,
online payments of Mess/Canteen dues have been started for residents of Girls Hostel
No. 4 and 10, Panjab University, Chandigarh, informed Prof. Neena Capalash, Dean
Student Welfare (Women), PU. She informed that there are more than 450 residing in
Girls Hostel no. 4 and 350 in Girls Hostel no. 10. She further informed that the
students will no longer have to stand in line for the payments as online portal
onlinesbi.comstatebankcollect is made effective for the same. This facility can be
avail by use of any ATM/Debit Cards/Prepaid Cards/Net Banking/other bank Debit Cards
including Foreign Cards also. They payment can be made through NEFT/RTGS
Moreover, she added that more staff will now be available for the Development work of
Hostels so as to facilitate better facilities and maintenance of the hostels.

Pareeksha Pe Charcha

The students of Panjab University watched the third edition of Annual Event
Pareeksha Pe Charcha 2020 addressed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, here today.
The students were impressed by the tips given by the Prime Minister regarding stress
busters, confidence boosting and use of technology as the success mantras.
The event received overwhelming response of students in different departments
and hostels where the telecast was arranged. Students were happy that the Prime
Minister not only talked about studying for examinations but also shared his
experiences and views to become an all-rounder and to have versatile personality.

Institute of Educational Technology and Vocational Education(IETVE), Panjab
University Chandigarh organized the visit to Institute for Blind Sector 26 Chandigarh
for the students of semester II under the supervision of Dr. Kalpana Thakur.
The students were addressed by the Principal of the school Dr. J. S . Jayara
where he sensitized the students of B.A.B.Ed. about the special needs for visually
impaired and talked about inclusive measures to be taken and how the students of this
school are excelling in various fields. Thereafter the students visited the school
campus where they were acquainted with the infrastructure like computer lab, gymnasium
for boys and girls, library, resource lab and their hostels catering the overall
development of the students. IETVE students also interacted with their students and
teachers and learnt the teaching learning process. The whole experience left the
students deeply motivated and sensitized them towards the challenges special children
faced in their daily life.
