CHANDIGARH,13.01.20-Festive cheer and warmth of bonfire enlivened the Lohri celebrations at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women here today. Adding to the festivities, Sh. H.R. Gandhar, the newly elected Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee, accompanied by Mrs. Suresh Gandhar, graced the function as the Chief Guest. In his address, Sh. Gandhar emphasized upon the importance of festivals in our lives as these provide humans with a surplus of happiness, love, sharing, wellness and warmth. Motivating the young generation to observe our age-old festivals with fervour, he said that these symbolize the spirit of celebration, collective pleasure, togetherness and harmony. He added that for a better world, the concept of 'vasudhaiv kutumbhakam' should be taken as the guide to learn how to harmonize, respect differences and honour kinship. Soul-stirring musical performances followed by lighting of the bonfire by the dignitaries completed the celebration.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava wished the staff and students on this blessed occasion. Drawing parallels between the concepts of micro and macro economics, and life, she said that the well-being of an individual and society are interdependent and thus, should go hand-in-hand.
