Chandigarh 03 January 2020 - A workshop on First Aid and Basic Life Support for Chandigarh Air wing NCC Cadets was conducted by 3 brd Air force on 03 January 2020. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Group Captain BS Sekhon, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) of 3 BRD Air Force who with his team introduced the course to the NCC Cadets. Lectures and practical demonstrations were conducted by Warrant officer SK Singh and Sergeant RA Saini with medical staff from the Station Medicare Centre 3 BRD Air force. This workshop trained 108 NCC Air wing Cadets of the city who are presently undergoing training at “Combined Annual Training Camp” at Air Force Station Chandigarh.

Air Force conducted this workshop with an aim to equip cadets with basic practical knowledge of lifesaving and casualty evacuation techniques, said Group Captain M R Pandeya, Commanding Officer NCC Air Wing Chandigarh.

The NCC Cadets were trained in First Aid, CPR (including practice on mannequin), and basics of Health and Hygiene. The cadets were even taught how to use common use material available at home to make a stretcher in an emergency to evacuate a casualty. Group captain Pandeya said that the skills taught are not only important for saving life and limb of their colleagues in case of an emergency, but will also be handy in providing first aid to accident victims in public places.
