Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare to inaugurate OPD Services of AIIMS, Bathinda on 23rd December at 1 pm

Chandigarh,21.12.19-The OPD Services of All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Bathinda will be inaugurated on 23rd December 2019 by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare at 1:00 PM.

The AIIMS Bathinda, Punjab was approved under Phase V of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India in July,2016. The cost of the project is Rs. 925 Crores which will be completed by June 2020.

The Foundation Stone for AIIMS at Bathinda was laid in November 2016. AIIMS Bathinda has been planned as a 750-bedded premier medical institute on 177-acre land having 10 specialty and 11 super specialty departments. It will also have 16 ultra- modern operation theatres. It has 100 seats in medical college and 60 seats in nursing college. The first batch of MBBS of AIIMS Bathinda has been started this year on Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot campus on a temporary basis as AIIMS Bathinda campus is under construction .

The Institute will be beneficial not only for the state of Punjab but also its neighboring states.

The following services will be started in AIIMS Bathinda from 23rd of December 2019.

1) Orthopedic 2) General Surgery including surgical oncology and urologist Pediatric surgery consultation 3) General Medicine 4) ENT 5) Ophthalmology 6) Psychiatry 7) Dermatology 8) Obstetrics and Gynecology 9) Dental 10) Radiology (X-ray Ultrasound and Colour Doppler 11) Basic Biochemistry & 12) Basic Hematology tests.

Currently there will be no emergency services or indoor facility but the same will be started in November 2020. The Institute has a special family medicine clinic also. All OPDs will work from 9 AM onwards and registration will be from 8 AM till 11 AM.

Facilities of pathology microbiology and chemotherapy will be added very soon . There is also a provision of providing medicines through AMRIT Drug store , a Govt. of India initiative , on discounted rates.

As of now AYUSHMAN BHARAT scheme will not be implemented as only OPD services are being provided. The scheme will be implemented once the INDOOR SERVICES are started in NOV 2020.

PGIMER, Chandigarh has been entrusted the responsibility of mentoring AIIMS Bathinda .


"3rd Workshop on Advanced Epidemiology and Biostatistics" 23rd Dec 2019 – 04th Jan, 2020

Chandigarh,21.12.19-A National level workshop on Advanced Epidemiology & Biostatistics is being organised by Department of Community Medicine &School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 23rd Dec 2019 – 04th January, 2020. This will enable the participants in planning a proper study by choosing appropriate study design. This will also hone their skills for doing data analysis and presentation of results. As most of the research papers published in various journals assess the quality on the basis of the study design and data analysis, this workshop will act as a foundation course for the researchers who are in the early or mid career.The resource persons will be Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Ex-Professor & Head, Dr. P.V.M. Lakshmi, Professor (Epidemiology) and Dr. Tarundeep Singh, AssociateProfessor, Department of Community Medicine & School of Public HealthPGIMER, Chandigarh.Twenty fiveparticipants of various medical colleges from 12 states of India are attending the workshop. Thestates range from Kerala in South to Jammu& Kashmir& Himachal Pradesh in the North and from Rajasthan in the West and Madhya Pradesh from Central part of the India.
