One person arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Akash Kumar @ Bakra R/o # 1116, Ph-2, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh near t-point, dividing road Sector-31/47 Chandigarh and recovered 50 gram heroin and 24 injections of Buprenorphine & Phenarmine Maleate from his possession on 18.12.2019. A case FIR No. 303, U/S 21, 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested for MV Theft

Sapna Yadav R/o # 4236, Sector-46D, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stole away complainant’s Activa Scooter No. CH01BN-9973 from Parking near Gurudwara, Sector-40C, Chandigarh on 09-12-2019. A case FIR No. 312, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Later person namely Kamal Verma R/o # 2742, Sector-40C, Chandigarh age 25 years has been arrested in this case. Investigation of case is in progress.

Accident

A case FIR No. 244, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh on the statement of Pardeep Rani R/o # 9B, Navodaya Vidyalaya Sector-25, Chandigarh against unknown lady driver of Activa Scooter who sped away after hitting to Activa Scooter No. CH03S-1830 driven by Vinu R/o # 6258, Maloya Colony, Chandigarh (age about 58 years) near Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sector-25, Chandigarh on 18-12-2019. He got injured and admitted in GH-16, Chandigarh where he expired later. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

Satnam Singh R/o # 35, Village Juhluwa Pinjore, (HR) reported that unknown person stole away complainant’s Maruti Car No. CH01Z-5740 from PGI Parking, Research Block-A, Chandigarh on 09-12-2019. A case FIR No. 245, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Rajnish Kumar R/o # 437, Ph-1, Mohali, (PB) reported that unknown person stole away complainant’s M/Cycle No. HP37D-5621 parked near SCO No. 822 NAC, Manimajra Chandigarh on 11-11-2019. A case FIR No. 215, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-Mani Majra, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Cheating

A case FIR No. 313, U/S 420 IPC & 3, 4, 5 of prize chits and money circulation schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh on the complaint of Ramesh Chander R/o # 534, Sector-33B, Chandigarh and 18 others who alleged that Ram Chhangur R/o # 527 Sector-33, Chandigarh allured complainants to invest in committee business and assured them for handsome returns. Thus, they invested a total sum of 59,60,000/- with the alleged Ram Chhangur in his committee business on various intervals. But later alleged person did not returned the invested amount of complainants. Investigation of case is in progress.

Anticipated heavy traffic movement

In view of the anticipated heavy traffic movement during the Chandigarh Carnival-2019 to be held on 20th , 21st & 22nd December, 2019 at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, Chandgiarh, the general public is requested to park its vehicles in the following designated parking lots :-

a. Parking area near Petrol Pump Sector 10

b. Parking lots of Art College and Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10

c. Parking lots of Kala Bhawan Sector 16

d. Parking lots of CLTA and Skating Rink, Sector 10

e. Parking lots of Rose Garden, Sector 16

g. Parking lots adjoining Govt. Hospital, Sector 16 opposite Rose Garden entry.

The general public is requested to approach Leisure Valley from the road T-point near Petrol Pump Sector 10 side as one-way traffic system shall be implemented on road infront of Art College & Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10 road.

Further, the general public is appealed to adopt the following measures:-

Please ensure vehicles are efficiently parked in the designated parking lots not consuming more space than necessary.

People are advised not to park their vehicles in ‘No Parking’ Zones/Roads; otherwise, such vehicles shall be towed away/clamped.

People are advised not to park/ply their vehicles on cycle track/pedestrian pathway.

In case vehicle is towed away/clamped, please contact Traffic Helpline No. 1073.

.Please remain patient in case of congestion and do not honk unnecessarily.

Car pooling may be considered.

Prevailing law & order situation

Keeping in view the prevailing law & order situation and inputs regarding protest march by different groups and community, thus adequate law & order arrangements have been made by Chandigarh Police at various locations in the city to avoid any untoward incident.

Inputs were received that about 1500/2000 persons of Muslim Community Chandigarh will assemble in front of Jama Masjid, Sector 20, Chandigarh on 19.12.2019. They will carry out protest march to submit their memorandum at PRB from Jama Masjid, Sector 20, Chandigarh to PRB. In view of this, Chandigarh police made adequate law & order and traffic arrangements. In this regard 340 NGOs/ORs were deployed at Jama Masjid Sector 20 and about 50 NGOs/ORs were also deployed at Punjab Raj Bhawan. In addition to this reserve force, water cannon/vajra, mounted police, fire tender, tear gas, were also deployed. Special teams of traffic staff also deployed on route of protest march for diversion purpose, proper parking arrangements and to regulate the general traffic. Senior officers of Chandigarh police took the representatives of Muslim Community, Chandigarh in understanding and their memorandum was brought up by some representatives to PRB. Other gathering was peacefully dispersed and the procession was concluded peacefully at Jama Masjid, Sector 20, Chandigarh. Overall situation remained peaceful.

Other than above, inputs were also received that joint protest march in support of Jamia Milia University by 200/250 members of SFS, AISA, PSU Lalkar, NSUI, SFI, AFSSI, ASUC, APSU etc. will be taken out from Student Center, PU to Plaza Sector 17 Chandigarh on 19.12.2019. In view of this Chandigarh police made adequate law & order and traffic arrangements. In this regard 200 NGOs/ORs were deployed at Student Center, PU and about 200 NGOs/ORs were also deployed at Plaza Sector 17 Chandigarh. In addition to this, reserve force water cannon/vajra, mounted police, fire tender, tear gas, were also deployed. Special team of traffic staff also deployed on route of protest march for diversion purpose, proper parking arrangements and to regulate the general traffic. Overall situation remained peaceful.

Complaint of Mr. Deepinder Singh Aulakh

A case FIR no.192 Dt. 26.11.2019 U/s 380,457 IPC, was registered in PS-Maloya on the Complaint of Mr. Deepinder Singh Aulakh regarding burglary in House No.,5530, Sector-38 West Chandigarh.

During the investigation of the said case two accused, namely Shyam Mandal S/o Kishan Mandal R/o Village-Sadar, District-Darbanga, Bihar age-48 years and other accused namely Shankar Thapa S/o Hemlal Thapa R/o House No. 250, Village- Balongi, District- Mohali Punjab have been taken on police remand and during the police remand, cash 2.5 Lakh and 150 Grams Gold Ornaments have been recovered on the identification of both accused.
