Chandigarh,18.11.10-In keeping with the spirit of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji worldwide, the Punjabi Department of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organized a lecture on the life and philosophy of the founder of Sikhism. Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann of Global Institute of Sikh Studies, New York delivered this enlightening lecture, drawing a vivid imagery of Guru Nanak Ji in Sikh visual and literary imagination. Calling for revisiting our knowledge pertaining to Guru Nanak, Dr. Mann asserted that for a clearer understanding of his life it is imperative that we look through the lens of his mission and execution of that mission. Dr. Mann also dwelt upon the golden rules of Nanak, approaches disapproved by him and reiterated that Guru Nanak's philosophy- a source of peace as well as social harmony, continues to be relevant even today.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated this endeavour of Punjabi Department to educate the students about the teachings of Guru Nanak ji. She added that Guru Nanak's teaching that nature serves as the primary source to know about God is all the more relevant in the present era that is marked by environmental degradation.
