Chandigarh,19.11.19-Shri Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle today visited the Patiala city to inaugurate the launch of SBI APPRENTICESHIP BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMME under the aegis of Financial Inclusion and Micro Market Network, (FIMM) Patiala which has been the main vision of SBI Chairman Shri Rajnish Kumar who was also in the city last week to strengthen this initiative.

The Chairman’s message was also shared on apprenticeship launch in SBI –“ We are happy to announce that SBI is the first Public sector Bank in the country to implement apprenticeship scheme of GOI. The first pilot of this initiative in our Chandigarh Circle with 737 apprentices selected through IBPS, who are joining today i.e. 18.11.2019. The apprenticeship training will build requisite skill and brighten employment opportunities for youth in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector. This skill development initiative will help in creating a pool of skilled workforce and lend a thrust to the GOI’s skill India Mission. Going forward, the model implemented in SBI is expected to serve as a model for implementation across the industry for creation of skilled manpower in the BFSI sector of the country. I wish all the apprentices a great learning experience in SBI.”

Speaking on the occasion while offering appointment letters to the apprentices at Harpal Tiwana Center for Performing Arts , Nabha Road, Patiala, SBI CGM Shri Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh said, “ I am delighted to be a part of this noble cause and as a leading & Pioneer Bank in the nation, we have started this initiative of implementing apprenticeship training in our organization which is in line with the laid down objective of Government of India Skill India Mission by helping in creating a pool of skilled workforce and enhancing the expertise of youth seeking employment in the Banking, financial services & Insurance sector.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Meghdoot Karnik, Chief Operating Officer (BFSI) and Ms. Geetanjali Agarwal, Head, SSC Governance and Apprenticeship, applauded the role of SBI in implementation of this initiative at such a large scale. They expressed sincere thanks to State Bank of India in being the partner of progress in implementing the initiative in a very short span and being the pioneer and serving as a model for its implementation across the industry

The function was also attended by the senior management of SBI, comprising of DGMs Shri Md. Arif Khan, from STU, Shri Sanjay Kumar DGM- Rseti & AGM Shri Mahesh Pandey from Corporate Centre, Mumbai, Shri Gokul Sharma, DGM& CDO, FI & MM Network, Patiala and AGMs across the Bank.

The newly created Financial Inclusion and Micro Market Network headed by General Manager Shri Subhash Joinwal also welcomed all the apprentices and highlighted the role of SBI in creating the employment and the contribution of the apprentices in the coming time in the growth and development of the economy. FI & MM, Patiala in Chandigarh Circle is the first Network PAN India where this scheme of employing apprentices has been implemented on a pilot basis which is matter of great privilege for this network. Highlighting the roles and responsibilities of apprentices, he expressed great hopes from them in their profession as they will be the brand ambassador of the Bank after their initial class room and Hands on Training and wished them good luck in their new journey. He expressed his sincere thanks to the officials of GOI, Skill India and NSDC present on this special occasion.

The program was also attended by the directors of RSETIs of three states Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh who were engaged in guiding the newly appointed apprentices.

All the apprentices who joined were given warm welcome by the FIMM team Patiala and after completing the requisite joining formalities, were also served food and snacks .
