Chandigarh,12.11.19-Today, 120 kWp SPV Power Plant at Water Boosting Station, Rehabilitation Colony, Maloya, Chandigarh was inaugurated by Smt.Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh. This Plant has been installed on the rooftop of Water Boosting Station in Rehabilitation Colony at Maloya, Chandigarh with a total cost of Rs.59.93 Lakhs and executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). This plant will generate approximately 1,56,000 units of electricity annually and shall help the UT Chandigarh marching towards 100% Renewable Energy Powered.

While interacting with media, Chief Guest appreciated the efforts taken by UT Administration in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City. She appreciated the lead taken by CREST in installing 32 MWp Solar Rooftop Plants on Govt Buildings as well as Private buildings including residential houses. Smt. Kher also made an appeal to the people to go for solar on their rooftop so as to financial benefit them personally, besides other environmental benefits. The installation of new solar power plant will reduce electricity bill of Water Boosting Station by approximately Rs.10.00 lakhs annually.
