NEW DELHI,09.11.19-Second day of the Itra and Sugandhi festival saw many visitors enjoying the art of Itra and Sugandhi Making. While some witnessed the making of fresh gulkand, many were also seen listening the art of rose water making.

Bringing the fine art of Itra & Sugandhi making, core forms of traditional Indian perfumery, Delhi Tourism has organized the three day Itra & Sugandhi Mela at Dilli Haat Janakpuri from 08-10 November 2019, in association with Fragrance and Flavor Development Centre (FFDC), Kannauj, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India. Capturing the essence of flowers, spices and other natural sources, the sublime art of making Itra has been passed down through ages with rituals and practices. Encased in dainty glass vials and crystal bottles, Itra has been one of the most notable part of our diverse culture, adding a sensory dimension to one’s experience.

Evening shows included local and cultural activities as kids enjoyed amusement rides. The Itra and Sugandhi Mela is not only providing an opportunity to purchase products but is also enlightening visitors on how actually these fascinating products are made.

Delhi Tourism’s sole endeavor to organize this festival is to preserve this age-old tradition and to provide fragrance lovers an opportunity to explore the traditional aromas of India. DTTDC proposes to highlight the ancient and rich heritage of India in the field of natural perfumes and essential oils.
