Patiala, November 09, 2019: Chairman of State Bank of India, Shri Rajnish Kumar visited Patiala city to launch financial inclusion initiatives, extend support to Punjabi University, address citizen of SBI adopted Gajjumajra village for full digitalization and green initiatives and interact with Self Help Groups at FIMM Network.

To pay respect and homage on the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, SBI Chairman Shri Rajnish Kumar visited the Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib and offered Kar Sewa. He also donated a Pick-up Van for loading and transporting of necessary goods and supplies. Another highlight of his visit was making people aware of the clean and green environment and devotees were also offered “BUTA PARSHAD”. 51 trees were planted in the premises of the Gurudwara and Bank thanked the SGPC members for their role in keeping the environment friendly premises and pivotal in sustainability development.

During his visit Shri Kumar reviewed the working of the newly established Financial Inclusion and Micro Market Network for deeper penetration into the unbanked area for providing financial services.

Earlier, Shri Kumar visited Punjabi University along with other senior management of the bank - comprising of CGMs, GMs - where he donated an ambulance. While speaking on the occasion Shri Kumar said, “We are delighted to be a part of this noble cause and associated with such a Prestigious University”

During the day, Shri Rajnish Kumar visited the first SBI adopted village - Gajjumajra for its digitization and making it plastic free. He also donated computers to the Government Senior Secondary School in the village. The main objective of this initiative was to aid in bridging the technology gap which is imbibed in every arena of life. While addressing the large gathering Shri Rajnish Kumar said, “I would like to convey my special thanks to all the residents for being associated with SBI and partnering equally in making the village fully plastic free and technology sufficient.”

The YONO application was the main attraction which was widely acclaimed and acknowledged by all the residents of the village.

After addressing the gathering Mr. Kumar visited the newly created FIMM Network premises, where he applauded the role of Self Help Groups and visited stalls with their products. He highlighted Banks’ contribution in creating employment by providing credit facilities to these groups which is also the main thrust of the government.

Lastly, SBI Chairman Shri Rajnish Kumar wished all the residents of Patiala and prayed for the peace, Harmony and prosperity of all.
