New Delhi: September 28, 2019: Celebrating World Tourism Day to spread awareness about the role of tourism in the world and its importance in social, economic and cultural spheres, this year’s theme has been set as 'Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all' by United Nations World Tourism Organization. Since 1980, the World Tourism day has been celebrated across the world on September 27.

To commemorate the World Tourism Day, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) planned engaging events throughout the day. With activities lined up to mark the celebration, DTTDC had put in efforts to draw the attention of masses to the significance of Tourism in today’s day and time.

The day was marked by activities like musical performances, welcoming of tourists, showcasing of folk-art forms decorations etc. The festival aims to spread the message of tourism playing a pivotal role in promoting an environment of community development. Tourism sector worldwide requires extensive community participation and has a tremendous scope in meeting the challenges across the world. This year, the focus was on the potential of Tourism industry for generating employment opportunities and hereby better supporting native & global economies.

All tourists who visit Delhi were offered special sweets and were also garlanded at all information offices and properties of DTTDC. A musical performance by bands of police and paramilitary forces at all three Dilli Haats (Janak Puri, INA and Pitampura) and Garden of Five Senses in the evening were the highlight of the day. The stage of Dilli Haat INA witnessed a stellar musical drama by Ministry of Tourism and was graced by a mesmerizing piano performance today. Folk dances and performers had also been lined up in order to further enhance the festivities for the visitors.
