New Delhi, August 31, 2019: Setting a rich narrative of Virasat-e-Mehrauli, the second day of Mehrauli Monsoon witnessed huge footfall as many attended heritage walks and the creative workshops at Jharna, one of the venues of the festival. The day started with a group of eager Delhiites participating in a Heritage walk organised in association with INTACH, allowing history enthusiasts to witness and appreciate the hidden gems within Mehrauli village.


Mr. Arvind Passey, Sr. Columnist- The Education Post, a well known blogger on travel, tech books and lifestyle, stated, “It is an absolutely charming walk, simply because it is full of history and stories. The guide who was sharing the stories made it so attractive that a person like me has the urge to go home and read more about Mehrauli area. These walks encourage people to know more about the history of their own city.”

Visitors across age groups participated in the painting & sculpting workshops, keen to explore their artistic side. The art exhibition curated by Mr. Kishore Labar, gathered huge appreciation as it depicted a unique side of the city. Spell-binding performances by local artists, Puppet shows, stalls and games for Children made Aam Bagh a fun filled affair for the visitors. Active participation by the residents of Mehrauli village added on to the zeal of the event.

Vaishnavi Sharma, a young resident of Mehrauli added, “ I have been living in Mehrauli yet even I was unaware of the history of the structures dotted around the village. To know that I reside in Delhi’s oldest and earliest cities and to be surrounded with such monuments makes me feel special.”


Ms. Manisha Saxena, Secretary Tourism, Govt of Delhi and Sh. Naresh Yadav, MLA Mehrauli, in the presence of Sh. D. Varma, General Manager, Delhi Tourism, addressed a gleaming audience and felicitated all artists, appreciating the gusto with which they enhanced the festivity, mood and flair of Mehrauli Monsoon Festival.

An eventful and vibrant day for visitors, the evening programme comprised of an awe-inspiring line up of renowned Classical Music artists like Kashish Mittal and Shaswati Mandol at Jahaz Mahal. Continuing the series of enthralling performances, the evening was concluded with a foot tapping set of Fusion Music performed by the prolific duo of Indira Nayek & Sanket Nayek.

The last day will witness a stellar performance by acclaimed Bollywood musician Javed Ali, alongside Folk and Classical dance performances. Dr. Swapna Liddle from INTACH will also be hosting a Heritage walk from 4:00 -6:00 p.m.


Spread over three core venues in Mehrauli village, the Aam Bagh showcases local and folk-art forms and host a vibrant Mela, proffering a myriad of dishes and stalls native to the Capital and surrounding States. The Jahaz Mahal is the hub of musical concerts whereas the Jharna will house workshops for visitors.

To facilitate visitors, free shuttle service is being provided from Chattarpur Metro Station to the venue and back.

The festival was inaugurated yesterday by Sh. Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Govt. of Delhi.
