CHANDIGARH, JULY 11:Mr. Suresh Arora newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner of State Information Commission Punjab, today assumed charge of office at its office situated at Red Cross Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.

Disclosing this official spokesperson of State Information Commission Punjab said that Mr. Asit Jolly newly appointed state Information Commissioner of State Information Commission Punjab also assumed the charge of his office.

Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab on Wednesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to former DGP Suresh Arora as State Chief Information Commissioner and Asit Jolly as Information Commissioner.

Chandigarh, July 11:“The Union Government has taken a right decision in banning the separatist organization Sikhs For Justice and the decision has only seconded the stand of the Chief Minister, Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh that such dens of terror needed to be strictly proceeded against.”

Disclosing this in a press communiqué, the Cooperation and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh had for long been demanding the strict action against Sikhs for Justice and banning it should be the only one part of the strategy to tackle terror while the situation warrants going all out against such organizations fuelling terror in Punjab and leading the youth astray.

Demanding from the Union Government the extradition of Sikhs for Justice supremo Gurpatwant Singh Pannu from USA, the minister said that Pannu is wanted in several FIRs registered in Punjab and the latter must be extradited to India to face the law. He advancing his argument also said that Pannu helped the mastermind of the Nabha Jailbreak incident Romy in Hongkong. Besides, the Sikhs for Justice especially Pannu are engaged neck-deep into providing financial and all other kinds of support to the separatist elements in India in order to advance his devious agenda for Referendum 2020 which aims to balkanize the country. The minister further said that Sikhs for Justice is just confined to social media and has no ground support.

S. Randhawa further added that the Punjab Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, is fully committed to give no quarter to terror elements in the State and has waged all out war on such rogues and terrorists. The State Government has broken the back of the drug suppliers completely which make use of the ill-gotten funds to fuel terror network in Punjab.

Calling for the complete unity on the sensitive issue by rising above the party lines, S. Randhawa said that the Union Government should assist Punjab in fighting terror as it is a border state. He also said that there must be no compromise on the issue of National Security as it is supreme and above all.


Punjab’s Development Authorities earns Rs. 71.69 Cr. from e-auction of properties- Sarkaria

Chandigarh, July 11: PUDA & other Special Development Authorities viz. GMADA, Patiala Development Authority (PDA), Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA), GLADA, Amritsar Development Authority (ADA) & Bathinda Development Authority (BDA) has earned revenue amounting to Rs. 71.69 crore from auction of various properties offered in the July e-auction. Properties disposed off include industrial plots, SCOs, booths, double storey shops, built-up booths, shops and residential plots. E-auction had commenced on 01-07-2019.

Divulging the details, a spokesperson said that revenue amounting to Rs. 43.50 crores in GMADA, Rs. 14.96 crores in JDA, Rs. 5.38 crores in BDA, Rs.3.91 crores in PDA, Rs. 3.29 crores in GLADA & Rs. 65.00 lac in ADA has been generated. He said that properties auctioned are located in Mohali, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Batala, Malout, Mukerian, Phillaur & Abohar.

He further informed that under jurisdiction of GMADA, 5 industrial plots ranging in size 0.5 acres to 1.26 were successfully auctioned. These industrial plots are located in Sector 83 Alpha & Sector 101 Alpha near the International Airport. Other than this, successful bids were received for 3 residential plots and 4 booths. These plots & booths are located in different sectors/projects of GMADA, he added.

Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Housing & Urban Development Minister-cum- Co-Chairman, PUDA expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the e-auction. He said the possession of sites auctioned shall be handed over to the allottees as per schedule. The earnest money of unsuccessful bidders shall be refunded soon, he said.
