SHIMLA 11 July, 2019-Agriculture Minister Dr. Ramlal Markanda met Governor Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhavan today and briefed him about the progress on extension of natural farming activities in the state.

The Governor said that farmer's income can be doubled only by reducing their expenditure and dependence on fertilizers and pesticides. At the same time, they should be provided better alternatives in crop practices.
He said that after a meaningful initiative in natural farming in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab have also shown interest in it which will broaden the scope and popularity of these products in the country.

He said that a large amount of money is being spent on Urea by the Central and State Governments, which can only be saved by employing natural resources and natural farming.

Dr. Markanda said that a good market would be made available to natural farming products. The shops will also be arranged for these products with the help of local bodies at major places in the state and district level so that farmers could get remunerative prices for their products.He said that adoption of natural farming would bring prosperity among farmers and reduce their dependence on loans.

Padam Shree Subhash Palekar said that big market is available for natural farming products all over the world. The farmers can sell these products at nation level and abroad also with no surplus cost. These products are naturally prepared and therefore acceptable in international market as they contain no pesticide and fertilisers. There is huge scope for export of these products, he added.
