CM congratulates J.P Nadda

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur called on J.P Nadda at New Delhi today and congratulated him on his appointment as Working President of National BJP.

The Chief Minister said that it is a great moment of pride for the state that a leader from Himachal Pradesh has been elevated to the top position in the party. This will not only boost the morale of party workers of the state, but also the party will be strengthened at national level with the dynamic leadership of J.P Nadda.

Shri Nadda thanked the Chief Minister for his good wishes.

Communication era has increased responsibility of media: Jai Ram Thakur

In the present era of communication, the media has become integral part of our day-to-day activities which has increased the responsibility of the media manifold. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur after unveiling the special coffee table book “Himachal High Flyers” brought out by the Dainik Jagran Prakashan Ltd., here today.

The Chief Minister said that publishing a coffee table book by the Dainik Jagran is indeed a commendable endeavour by the Group. He said that the Dainik Jagran is not just a newspaper but also an institution which has always come forward for social causes. He said that Dainik Jagran has created a special place in the hearts of the readers, and this is the reason why it is one of the leading newspapers in the country.

Jai Ram Thakur said that it is heartening to know that Dainik Jagran has recognised the services of the people who have made a mark in different fields by overcoming all the hurdles and hardships. This book would continue to inspire the people to work with greater dedication and commitment so that they could also become lighthouse for the others.

Chief Minister said that media is rightly called as the fourth pillar of democracy, as it acts as the watchdog of the society besides providing proper feedback to the authorities. He said that in the present era of cut-throat competition, the media has to keep its integrity intact and it is appreciable that Dainik Jagran has kept high standards in the field of journalism.

He felicitated the High Flyers on the occasion by presenting them memento and the coffee table book.

The content writer of the coffee table book, Sangmista Sharma said that the book peeps into the life of the path-breaking entrepreneurs of Himachal Pradesh.

The BJP will continue winning people’s trust and serving the society by building a strong, developed and inclusive India under the able leadership of Jagat Prakash Nadda, who has been appointed as working President of National BJP. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated this while addressing the party workers at BJP State headquarters ‘Deep Kamal’, here today.

The Chief Minister said that the people of the State were honoured with J.P. Nadda being made the BJP working President. He said that heading a biggest political party of the world was a real honour to the State with a population of about 70 lakh only. Shri Nadda has a vast experience and has served the government and party at different levels. He had been University President, leader of Opposition in State Legislative Assembly, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and thereafter Forest, Environment, Science and Technology. He said that he also served as Union Health Minister and is also Member of the BJP Parliamentary Board, the highest body of BJP. He is soft spoken and down to earth leader, having personal rapport with the workers.

Jai Ram Thakur said that it was a matter of honour for the State and its people that the State today has representation both in government as well as in the party at the Centre. He said that Shri Nadda has been made working President of BJP and on the other hand Anurag Thakur has been made Minister of State in the Union Cabinet. He said that the State would immensely benefit by their being at the helm of affairs.

The Chief Minister along with the State Party President Satpal Singh Satti watched the ceremony of assuming the office of working President of BJP on the television.

Satpal Singh Satti said that it was indeed a moment of pride for the people of Himachal Pradesh that JP Nadda has rose from a party workers of the State to the top post of the world's biggest political party.

ACS reviews preparedness for impending monsoon season in state

Additional Chief secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi held a review meeting on the preparedness of impending monsoon season with all the District Commissioners (Dc) and other departments through video- conference from here today.

He asked the Public Works department, Municipal Corporations and Panchayati Raj institutions to take up the work of cleaning/ clearing of drains, channels, nallahs in a campaign mode with-in 15 days.

The Chief Secretary said that Himachal Pradesh is a disaster prone state so it is necessary to pay special attention for disseminating the weather advisories and installing advance early warning systems in state. The places have already been identified at Kullu and Dalhousie to install such systems whereas relief and rescue base of NDRF would be set up in Rampur and Mandi. He said that the power authorities have been asked to come up with adequate system for alerting the public in downstream to avoid losses due to sudden flow of water that often results in loss of life and property. This early warning system will help in shifting and evacuation of people from vulnerable areas and should be regularly monitored by Central Water Commission.

He said that the information regarding the relief and rescue would be regularly made available to public through FM channels, print and electronic media and sign boards regarding availability of satellite would be made available at all the vulnerable areas. All the district headquarters have already been provided satellite phones and more would be provided as per requirement.

Dr. Baldi said that for relief and rescue teams of NDRF and SDRF located at different parts of the state with cooperation of Regional Response Centers (Local Units of ITBP), Indian Army and local volunteers have been asked to remain alert. He said that it is important that trekking and other yatras are restricted during adverse weather conditions and it would be made mandatory for trackers to have a GPS device so that they can be provided all possible help in case of any emergency.

He directed all the District Commissioners to identify the vulnerable areas and to making required arrangements for clearing of roads in the event of blockades besides ensuring removal of uprooted trees to prevent loss and damages. He directed the PWD to ensure restoration of bridges and clearing of roadside debris before the onset of monsoon while Irrigation and Public Health Department was directed to ensure regular cleaning of water sources to prevent outbreak of water born diseases.

Special Secretary (Revenue and Disaster Management) D.C. Rana apprised about the steps taken to tackle any eventuality during the monsoon season.

CM mourns martyrdom of Rifleman Anil Jaswal

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the martyrdom of Anil Kumar Jaswal, Rifleman in Indian Army of village Saroh under Tehsil Bangana of district Una, during a terrorist attack in Anantnag of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

In his message to the bereaved family members, the Chief Minister said that Anil Kumar Jaswal has made a supreme sacrifice for the cause of the country while fighting the terrorists.

He prayed to the Almighty for peace of the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members.

The Chief Minister said that state government will provide all possible help to the next of kin of the martyred soldier.

Minister reviews progress of schemes of Social Justice and Empowerment department

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Rajeev Saizal chaired the state level meeting to review the progress on various central and state schemes being implemented by the Social Justice and Empowerment and Women and Child Development departments, here today.

The Minister said that the state government is providing pensions and allowances to more than 5.11 lakh beneficiaries in the state under social security sector. The government has accorded sanction to 23,442 pending applications up to March, 2019 under social security scheme, as a result of which the total number of pensioners will go up to 5,34,578 in the state. Similarly, sanction has been granted to 1,20,581 new case of social security pension scheme from January 1, 2018.

The presentations were given during the meeting by Directorate of Empowerment of SCs, OBCs, Minorities and Specially Abled (ESOMSA) and Women and Child development on various schemes being implemented through them.

The initiatives like ICDS Common Application Software (ICDS-CAS) were also discussed in the meeting which aims at better management of Anganwadi workers and improving service quality.

The Minister also reviewed the progress under various schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matri Matru Vandana Yojana, Beti Hai Anmol and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
