Chandigarh, May 15 – Under the sub-section (2) of Section 58 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission of India has declared the poll taken on May 12, 2018 at 88-Asaoti polling station of 85 Prithla Assembly segment of 10-Faridabad Parliamentary Constituency to be void and appointed May 19 as the date for taking repoll/fresh poll at the said polling station with hours of poll from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

7.13 quintals Ganja seized, three arrested

Chandigarh, May 15 - In yet another major crackdown on the illicit narcotics trade, Haryana Police has seized 713 kilograms of ganja being smuggled in a canter in district Palwal. Police has also seized two vehicles and took three persons into custody in this connection.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that this is the second biggest seizure in Palwal district this year after over 775 kilograms ganja last month.

Giving further details, he said that a CIA team, which was present at Agra Chowk, Palwal, got secret information about drug smuggling. On getting information, the team immediately swung into action and put blockade near Likhi Chowk, Hasanpur. When police team signaled the drivers of a Canter and Hyundai car, escorting the Canter, coming from Hodal side to stop, both accelerated the vehicles and try to run away. The alert and vigilant police chased both the vehicles and stopped it at a short distance. Upon searching, ganja packed in 36 bags weighing 713 kilogram recovered from the Canter bearing Haryana registration number.

The arrested accused identified as Rajesh, hailing from village Khenwara, Dinesh from village Dhateer and Pratap, a resident of village Likhi.

A case under the provisions of NDPS Act had been registered against them at Hasanpur Police Station. Accused will be taken on police remand for interrogation to ascertain details of others involved in ganja smuggling racket.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police, Mr Manoj Yadava appreciated the SP Palwal Mr Narendra Bijraniya and his team for intensifying efforts to crackdown on drug-peddlers and criminals in the district.
