Chandigarh,15.04.19-A special assembly was organized in Guru Nanak Public School, Sector-36D Chandigarh to mark the occasion of Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Northern India with fervor and gaity. It also marks the Sikh new year and commemorates the formation of ‘Khalsa Panth’ of warriors under Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The celebrations began with recital of ‘Deh Shiva Bar Moh-i-hai’ followed by a speech, a poem and Vaar explaining the significance of the day. A turban tying competition was organized from classes VI to XII, results of which were also declared in the assembly. From classes VI to VIII, Sahibanvir Singh stood 1st , Baninder Singh stood 2nd and Amandeep Singh stood 3rd. In IX to XII group, Bhavjot Singh bagged 1st position, Lovepreet Singh stood 2nd, and Karanvir Singh, Sharanvir Singh bagged 3rd position each.

Addressing the students, Principal Ms. Gurnam Kaur Grewal encouraged them to value their culture and imbibe the values taught by the tenth Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
