New Delhi, 16 February, 2019:The second day of the 32nd Garden Tourism Festival, the event saw an enthralling set of performances and engagement activities for people across ages. Commencing the day with a painting competition for children, the event saw young kids revelling in the festivities and expressing the importance and beauty of nature via their paintings. A special photowalk was conducted for budding photographers and foreign visitors by Andaz Hotels in association with Delhi Tourism amidst the refreshing environs of Garden of Five Senses.
Garden Tourism Festival is held every year,usually in the month of February. It draws unique yet distinct theme each time. Themes vary from environmental issues to planning of garden and their maintenance. The theme for this year was kept as ‘Plants:Lifeline for everyone’ which is centered around plantations for overall well-being.
The three-day event has numerous nurseries showcasing their collection. Sapling, plants and trees are put for display and sale
Delhi Tourism through this initiative tried to disseminate a strong message amongst visitors about the importance of gardening and how gardening contributes in tackling rising the pollution level and it even strives to inform visitors about different medicinal plants and the benefits associated with it. The audience were enthralled at the storytelling session by Jaishree from StoryGhar. People paid rapt attention as she crafted a vivid world built on words.
The Highlights of 32nd Garden Tourism Festival are as follows:
• Display of Terrariums, Floral Animals, Potted Plants, Foliage, Medicinal & Herbal Plants, Hanging Baskets, Dahlia, Roses, Cacti, Bonsai, Bougainvillea, cut flowers, nursery stalls, etc
• Garden Bazaar: sale of flowers, plants, organic items, medicinal plants, gardening accessories, etc.
• Live Entertainment: Folk and cultural performances including bands
• Various food stalls where people will get to savor the taste of different delicacies.
Amidst the vibrant hues of nature, people of all ages thronged towards the Garden Bazaar to acquire accessories and plants for their living spaces. The Garden Bazaar saw nature lovers purchase various plants and accessories. Visitors were also seen engaging chats with the vendors to know more about the benefits of specific plants.
In the evening, the visitors witnessed an enthralling live performance by NUUR, bringing a mesmeric end to a vibrant second day.The prize distribution ceremony for all competitions will be conducted on 17 February, 7:00 p.m. onwards.
