Chandigarh, 03 Feb 19-.A felicitation ceremony for NCC cadets who took part in the Republic Day Camp & Parade 2019 in New Delhi was arranged by Punjab, Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorateat Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh on 03 Feb 2019.The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency ShriAcharyaDevVrat,Hon'ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh,and included various senior dignitaries and officials, officers and staff involved in the training of these cadets, along with the Associate NCC Officers(ANOs) drawn from various schools and colleges and the proudparents of these meritorious cadets.

For selection in the Republic Day Contingent,all cadets have to face many competitions at inter unit and Inter-Group level as the NCC RepublicDay Camp is the culmination of all NCC Training activities for that year. Thus 1850 Selected NCC Cadets from 17 directorates of the country attend the Camp at Delhi Cantonment,from 01 January to 29 January and was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Vice President of India and culminated with the Prime Minister's Rally on 28 January 2019. During the camp, visits ofHon'ble Raksha Mantri,Hon'ble Cabinet Ministers, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi,three Service Chiefs and various State Ministers/VIPs are alsoorganized,where they interact with cadets.

The Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate was judged the Best Directorate in Republic Day Contingent, NationalIntegration awareness competition, Ship modeling competition and Second Best Directorate in Best Cadet Competition In individual competitions, cadets of the Directorate won 07 Golds,04 Silvers,07 Bronze medals and 03 Trophies.The Gold medalists are Cadet Rahul Malhotra and Cadet Preeti of Amritsar Group,Cadet Vishal Singh of Chandigarh Group,CadetGurashbir of Ludhiana Group, Senior Under Officer PardeepKaur of Patiala Group,SeargentMamtaChahal,Seargent Naveen Kumar, SeargentSahilDaulat of Rohtak Group. Silver medalist are Cadet Anamika Sharma of Shimla Group and Under Officer Gurpreet Singh of Patiala Group.Cadet GurashbirSingh,Seargent Naveen Kumar and Senior Under OfficerPardeepKaur won 03 Trophies in Horse Riding competition.

The Governor lauded the NCC organization for instilling in the young cadets, a sense of discipline and heaped praises on the NCC contingent along with the efforts of the officers for their hard work.He said parents need to encourage their Children to join the NCC as it makes youth smart,responsible and positive.

Additional Director General of NCC, Punjab, Haryana,Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh Directorate, Major General RS Mann, VSM alsospoke on the occasion. Senior Officers from HQ Western Command,Parents,Principals and Associate NCC Officers(ANO's)of the cadetsattended the function.
