New Delhi, 04.11.18: Presenting Delhi with a new iconic landmark, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Delhi inaugurated Signature Bridge along with Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Dy Chief Minister, Delhi in the august presence of Hon’ble Ministers of Delhi Govt. and other senior officials of the Govt. and Delhiites in large number.

The inauguration event was accompanied by an exhibition showcasing the larger than life journey of Signature Bridge and the work done to give Delhi its new landmark. A sight to behold in itself, the audience was presented with not only the Signature Bridge but also an awe-inspiring laser show post the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the Inauguration, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt of Delhi, stated, " Like Taj Mahal, an iconic landmark of India, is visited by thousands of travelers from India and abroad, Signature Bridge is going to become one of the must-see tourist attractions of Delhi. An engineering marvel, the structure is twice the height of Qutab Minar, set to be a milestone development in the infrastructural growth of the capital city."

Further adding to the importance of the project Shri Manish Sisodia, said, “Apart from connecting some major parts of the city, the bridge is a stellar example of engineering and aptly showcases the various developments in the city’s architecture. The bridge also houses a 22 m high steel-glass structure, which shall take visitors to the top of the pylon offering panoramic views of Delhi. Therefore, apart from enabling better connectivity, the bridge will also be a new tourist attraction in the city, offering some never seen before views.”

The ‘Signature Bridge’ connects Wazirabad situated across the river Yamuna to the inner city, thereby easing the traffic movement. The Western and Eastern approaches to Bridge will connect the nearby areas like Timarpur, Nehru Vihar, Wazirabad, Aruna Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar on Ring Road to Bhajanpura on Mangal Pandey Marg. The distance between two sides of the bridge will be reduced from 45 minutes to just 10 minutes saving travel time and fuel. Vehicular traffic which will be open to the public from 5th November 2018, tomorrow.

Other Salient Features of the iconic Signature Bridge are:
This iconic bridge has been constructed at the cost of Rs. 1518 Cr including the cost of Western and Eastern approaches. The project was approved by the Delhi Cabinet in Feb 2010 and the construction of bridge started immediately thereafter in March 2010.
Length & Width: 575m long unsymmetrical cable stayed bridge with main span 251 m long with dual carriageway of 14 m each (4+4 Lanes) with central verge and maintenance walkways etc.
Pylon: Bow shaped Steel Pylon of 154 m. high (more than double the height of Qutub Minar) with Cable Stays on one side and Back Stays on the other side.
Bridge Deck: Composite deck made of Steel Plate Girders and Precast / Cast-in Situ RCC.
Foundation: Well foundations socketed in rock and open foundations.
High speed lifts in pylon legs.
Bridge health Monitoring system for assessing long-term health of bridge and taking corrective measures as and when required.
Street Lighting / High Mast lighting in approaches and main bridge.
Horticulture and landscaping works as an addition to beautify the environment.
