Chandigarh,10.08.18--MCM DAV College for Women organized an Induction cum Freshers function to welcome its newcomers and to familiarize them with the virtuous value system of the region's leading college. Prof. PromilaPathak, Department of Botany, PU, .Ameer Sultana, Chairperson, Department cum Centre for Women Studies & Development, PU,Ms.SarabjitKaur, Principal, Guru Ram DAS B.Ed. College, Fazilka, Dr Prof. BinuDogra, Principal, PGGC-42,andDrYojnaRawat, Chairperson, USOL, PU, graced the occasion as the Guests of Honour.

Organized by the Cultural Committee of the college, this unique annual feature of the college is an innovative way of making the freshers feel at home. The function began with a presentation highlighting the glorious history and illustrious achievements of the college. In an attempt to motivate newcomers to carry forward the legacy of excellence at MCM, the university toppers of session 2017-18 and the students who cleared UGC NET 2018 exam were felicitated on this occasion. The conveners of various clubs and committees of the college were also introduced to the freshers. The rules and regulations of the college were introduced to the students in a novel manner through an entertaining skit that had the audience in splits. While a presentation on the add-on courses offered by the college effectively drove home the importance of these courses in imparting an edge to one's career, various dance performances from classical to retro to hip-hop added to the entertainment quotient of the event.

MCM Ms.Fresher Contest was the highlight of the function where confident beauties with brains walked down the ramp for the coveted title. GurbaniBal was crowned Ms.Fresher while HarleenBhasin and Pooja Sharma walked away with 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up title, respectively. Ambika Sharma grabbed the Charming Smile title while Ishita Bhatia won the Beautiful Hair title.

MCM Principal Dr.NishaBhargava, in her address, congratulated the freshers for making it to a unique seat of learning that transforms aspiring young students into leaders of tomorrow and produces good citizens with a strong national character. Through her thought-provoking poetry, Dr.Bhargava also motivated the students to be beacons of change.
