Panjab University Non Teaching Employees Federation (PUNTEF) gave a warm send-off to Prof.Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh who successfully finished his six years tenure in PU, here today.

Col. G.S.Chadha (Retd.), Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh while appreciating the encouragement and support, he got for various issues of PU, said that Prof. Grover never lost his goal and always encouraged to find solution to the problems. He applied his scientific approach to all the problems by breaking them into pieces then handling each piece separately to give the desired results. He is a true leader and he leads by himself first. He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Grover in bringing grants of Rs. 207 crores with an increase of annual 6 % from MHRD, which brought PU out of troubled waters.

Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh expressed his gratitude for Prof. Grover’s effort in bringing about various reforms in the online examination system in PU.

Sh. Vikram Nayyar, Finance & Development Officer, Panjab University, Chandigarh appreciated the exceptional qualities of Prof. Grover in inspiring all. Prof. Grover work tirelessly even in hostile situations with single handed agenda of taking PU to greater heights. Prof. Grover believed in working together rather than commanding to do. Prof. Grover always inspired all to turn the challenges into opportunities.

Sh. Deepak Kaushik, President, PUSA appreciated the leadership skills, encouragement, guidance and support which brought PU this far. Prof. Grover brought hope beyond expectations for the whole non teaching community.

Prof. Arun K. Grover in his address expressed his pleasure for the honour bestowed upon him by all. He shared his challenging journey of 6 years in PU. He urged all to enhance the developmental income of the University by innovative ways. He said that Universities are created to thousand of years whereas we have lived only 75 years. University is still to evolve to make this institution a healthy institution. He stressed that we should make honest and vigorous programme to retrain our work force for the betterment of PU. He informed that PU is a national laboratory to find solution to the societal problems, as the developmental agenda of India evolves.

Prof. Grover was presented a show-case of his six years journey in PU by complining memorable moments in the form of photo album. He was also presented with memento from PUNTEF.

The senior officials of PU and office representatives of all non teaching associations apart from staff members of administrative block.

The date of counselling for admission to MA Part I (Sociology) is scheduled to be held on 24.7.2018 (Tuesday) at 9.30 am in the Department of Sociology, Arts Block No. IV, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The candidates are required to bring the hard copy of admission form and original certificates along with one set of photocopy at the time of counselling. The physical presence of candidate at the specified time and place of counselling is mandatory on 24.7.2018. The candidates are required to keep in touch with the Department Notice Board and website of the Department Notice Board. No separate intimation will be sent.

MBA (Executive) Entrance Test- 2018

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has issued certain important instructions for the forthcoming conducting the MBA (Executive) Entrance Test- 2018 to be held on July 22, 2018 at PU Campus from 10.00 am – 12.00 noon. As many as 614 candidates will be appearing for the test. As many as 3 centres have been set up (2 in Chandigarh & 1 in Ludhiana) to conduct entrance examination.

Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh informed that the students have been asked to reach their respective test centres at least 25 minutes before the start of the test. No candidate reporting 15 minutes after the start of the test would be allowed to sit for the test. 40 minutes extra will be given to the visually handicapped/person with disability(PwD). The candidates are required to bring E-Admit Card with them, otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the test centre. The candidates must bring only black ball point/gel pens with them for answering the questions. The use of calculator is not allowed. There will be no negative marking. The candidates must write their roll numbers on their Question Booklet and on the Answer Sheet exactly as given in the Admit Card only at the spaces provided for the purpose. No candidate would be allowed to leave the examination hall before the expiry of the time allowed for the test. The candidates are not permitted to carry any telecommunication equipment such as pager, cordless/cellular phone, wireless set etc. inside the examination hall. Anybody in possession of any such telecommunication equipment will make him/her liable for expulsion from the examination. The unfairmeans in this regard will strictly lead to disqualification from the exam.

WALL OF VALOUR - A TRIBUTE TO MARTYRS’ SCREENED AT PANJAB UNIVERSITY

Department of Alumni Relations, Panjab University in association with Centre for Police Administration (CPA) organized a special screening of noted documentary maker Beenu Rajpoot’s directed ‘Wall of Valour – A tribue to martyrs’ at Panjab University, here today.

This thirty minutes screening was attended by Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Mr. Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, North Zone Cultural Centre, Mr. Kamal Arora, Chairman, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akedemi, Mr Satpal Kapoor, IG, Central Reserve Police Force, Mr. Vikram Singh, Deputy Commandant, ITBP, Chandigarh, Sh. Abhinav Kumar, IG, Western Command, BSF, Dr. OP Mishra, DIG, Chandigarh Police, students, professors, police personnel and art critics.

The documentary was based on working of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and State Police Forces which differs from the functioning of Indian Army. The film which is made under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs also highlights the misery, agony and more than that, spirits of families of the martyrs. The film describes the gallantry of two policemen who sacrificed for the nation. Firstly, a 23 years of old Shaurya Chakra winner (posthumously) Rocky of 59 BSF who battled against terrorists to save 44 unarmed jawans in Jammu & Kashmir. Secondly a thirty years old Sub Inspector Altaf Ahmed Dar of J&K Police who sacrificed his life during an encounter in Srinagar.

Beenu Rajpoot revealed in her research during her shoot, since independence, more than 36,000 cops had sacrificed their lives till date for nation be it on borders front or due to internal issues. “These cops treat entire nation as their family and left no stone unturned during their services but the plight of families of the martyrs puts a big question mark on the attitude of nation and society at large. That what, inspired me to roll my camera bringing these plights to my audiences. We should come forward for such families sharing their pain and gain” said Beenu, a former student of philosophy from PU, Chandigarh. The film also conveyed the notions of noted cricketer Gautam Gambhir and actor Akshay Kumar.

Present on the occasion, Mr Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, NZCC, this film will be screened for the students in association of local colleges and schools across the spread of his department so that each one realize the importance of police in our society.
