CM inaugurates 18th All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship at Solan

 Police needs to check cyber crime efficiently

 Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur, while presiding over the 18th All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship at Solan today announced its opening and in his address said that in the fast changing socio-economic and political scenario, one needs to keep pace with the latest techniques and digital knowledge of high standards.  


He said that since past some time the cyber crime was on rise thereby police requires more expertise and IT qualified to counter the same. He said as the crime rate in Himachal was quite less than other states, yet the police requires always to be on alert to maintain law and order efficiently. 

 The Chief Minister said that organising such tournaments paves the way to get relief from the stress which one gets in his day to day routine job. It was a great opportunity for the police personnel of as many as 24 states to share each other experiences, he said.

 He congratulated the participating teams and welcomed them to the state. He also honoured the police sportsperson who participated and achieved laurels for the Police department and for the country as well while participating in various police games at National and International Level. 

 Those he honoured were Ashish Kapoor a Punjab police Officer to bag Gold medal in World Police and Fire Services games in Los Angeles  USA , besides Dhananjay Singh from Andhra Pradesh to get gold medal in CBSE under 17 lawn tennis championship besides others. 

 A colourful cultural programme was also organised on the occasion. 

 As many as 120 participants from 24 states including paramilitary forces participated in the tournament. 

 Earlier, Director General of Police Shri S.R Mardi welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion. He said as policing was the most tedious job,  it was necessary to organise sports activities from time to time so as to keep oneself fit and it also provides an opportunity to meet each other from low to high rank and file. 

 He thanked the Indian Police Sports Control Council for hosting the championship in Solan this time.

Caps no more to symbolize political alignments, but inseparable part of our culture: CM

 Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur while addressing a gathering at Circuit House in Solan today,  said that  time has come to bid farewell to cap politics in the state. In Himachal, political loyalties were denoted by the colour of caps. Former chief minister and his supporters use to wear a green band cap and were considered as having congress ideology whereas the BJP leaders and supporters adorned a maroon band cap. Over the years these two colours had come to symbolise the two different political alignments, said the Chief Minister.

 The Chief Minister said he won't  indulge himself  in cap politics adding that he had stop wearing the cap thereby putting an end to cap politics said that he prefers the caps as inseparable part of culture of Himachal Pradesh and not as a symbol of regional divide of upper and lower Himachal as was considered during the congress regime. 

 He said that the budget was in the corner and after the budget session will be over the congress will itself see the working of government

 He said that the days of those serving for an individual and not for the government were over. The past is not to be recalled, he said as whatever had happened in previous Government was the worst period of intolerance and vendetta politics  adding that  his government has no place for vendetta  but those who would be wrong anywhere while discharging their duties won't be spared.

 The Chief Minister said that government of tired and  retired was no more as the present BJP government would  work overall development of the State and welfare of people not for five years  but for next 20 years.

Mobile App to facilitate Ration Card holders

The State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has taken several initiatives to provide quality essential items at subsidized rates to over 70 lakh consumers of Himachal Pradesh. Moreover, the Department is also ensuring that essential commodities are available to the consumers even at far-flung and remotest area of the State. 

The State Government has recently launched a Mobile App to facilitate Ration Card holders of the State. The consumers can download this App on their android mobile phone by searching ePDSHP from play store and download the same. After downloading the App the consumer will have to enter/scan their Mobile and Aadhar Number. The Mobile app will display the Ration Card provided any Ration Card is linked with the particular Aadhar Number. This Ration Card will function as digital ration card. Facility of Entitlement Calculator is also being provided which contains information regarding detail of ration to be provided to the consumer during that particular month and also about its rates.

The consumer can also give his feedback to the Department regarding functioning of fair price shop through this App. The consumers can also register complaint regarding functioning of Department through this App. In addition, telephone numbers of Officers and Officials of the Department are also available on this App. The App also contains a Mobile Logo which on a single touch would automatically make call on Toll Free Number 1967 of the Department. Complete video regarding necessary procedure how to download this App is also available on website, Facebook page and youtube ( link of the Department. Although, this App has been launched recently, still it has over 7000 followers.

Similarly, a Toll Free Number 1967 has been launched for the convenience of the consumers. The consumers through this Toll Free Number can make any complaints regarding quality of essential commodities being provided through fair price shops. In addition, information regarding availability of Ration can also be sought through this Toll Free Number. Consumers can also make correction in names on rations card through this number.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Minister said that the Department has developed its registration and notification made by Weight and Measures Organization of the Department, in order to benefit the businessmen.

Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Shri Madan Chauhan also disclose that the Toll Free Number was proving beneficial for the consumers. He said that the Department has received 856 calls through this number and efforts were made to redress all the complaints immediately. The Inspectors deployed in field are immediately informed regarding complaint of the consumers and directed to submit the action taken report to the Directorate. Another unique feature of this Toll Free Number is that the Department can get feedback from the consumers regarding public distribution system through this Toll Free Number.

The main objective of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is to strengthen the public distribution system in the State. The new initiative made by the Department has ensured easy availability of essential commodities to the consumers, ensured consumers awareness and strict vigil on functioning of 150 LPG agencies and 374 Patrol Pumps in the State.

The Minister has urged all the consumers of the State to download ePDSHP app on their mobile phone and drive benefit of the scheme, besides lodging their queries regarding any complaint regarding public distributions system on Toll Free Number 1967.


 State government sanctions Rs. 5 crore for Thachi College

 The State Government has accorded approval for a sum of

 Rs. 5 crore for the construction of Government Degree College Thachi in district Mandi. Previous government had provided only Rs. one lakh for this college

Stating this here today, a Government Spokesperson said that the Chief Minister while his tour to Seraj Assembly Constituency in Mandi district on 21st January, 2018 had announced that budget provision will be made for Government Degree College Thachi and this college will also be made functional by starting classes from next academic session and this was among his major priorities too.

 He said that the College would enable a large number of students of Thachi and its surrounding areas to continue their higher education, particularly girls would be benefitted the most who were unable to go to far-off places.
