New Delhi,07.07.17-Giving Delhiites a chilling respite from the scorching sun, Dilli Haat, Pitampura kick started its unique 3 days long “Mango & Sharbat Mela” from today, 7th July, 2017 at Dilli Haat, Pitampura. The fiesta will mark the display of traditional cold drinks namely Thandai, Lassi, Jaljeera, Mango Shake, Aam Panna, Sattu, Kokam (a traditional drink from Maharashtra) and various other milk drinks. Being the weekend, the first day of the festival marked a huge turn out by the Delhiites towards the venue. It is known that Delhiites in large numbers enjoy this “Cooling” experience at the “Mango & Sharbat Mela” every year. The fiesta will remain open for the public from 7-9 July 2017 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

 

Sh. S.P. Singh, M.D. & C.E.O., D.T.T.D.C. & Dr. Pooja Joshi, General Manager, D.T.T.D.C. along with various dignitaries and officials from Tourism Department graced the occasion with their gracious presence.

 

Special attraction of fest would be the organic squashes and juices from Navdanya along with numerous varieties of mangoes. They would be popularizing the drinks made of Ladakh Himalayan Berries, Sea Buckthorn and Rhododendron juice from the blood red flowers of Himalayan trees, having great medicinal values.  Tasty, healthy and refreshing concentrate of fresh fruits are believed to be ideal to beat the summer heat.

 

The fest will mark the presence of various renowned health drinks brands namely Hitkari, Hamdard, Simbhavli Sugar Mill, Mother Dairy, Aroma, who besides displaying their soul soothing drinks, will also make the visitors available with their refreshing summer drinks. Adding more attraction towards the festival, the Deprtment of Tourism has also planned the Sale of mangoes and mango eating competitions for the visitors. Making the festival more happening and rocking for Delhiites, the Department has also organized the cultural shows on all the three days in the evening by Sahitya Kala Parishad, Department of Art & Culture and Government of NCT of Delhi.

Apart from giving their taste buds a refreshing treat, the visitors will also get a handful of opportunities to shop for handicrafts & handloom items, home decor, artificial jewellery etc., while the children make the most of their day having camel rides and watching magic shows along with some interesting rides at the venue.
