Chandigarh, August 5: Today, the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration along with Yuvsatta-NGO and over 100 volunteers of Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Kids-R-Kids School and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, organized a Plogging drive at N-choe & Mini Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh. In which, they collected approx. 200 kg of plastic waste bottles, glass, wrappers and other waste they could during the two hours endeavour.

Appreciating the hard work of participating youngsters Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, CCF cum Director, Department of Environment said that upcoming Independence Day and ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava' reminds us of our duties towards the nation and society, especially for maintaining a clean and green environment around. He added that it's heartening to see young students taking a step forward to make Chandigarh no. 1 in all aspects of cleanliness, especially in the field of eradication of single use plastics items from our city.

Mr. Vishal Kalia, Principal of CIHM-42 said that they are thankful to the Department of Environment, Yuvsatta-NGO and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, for their all- out support in this endeavour. As Mahatma Gandhi once said ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’. And we all have to actively play our role to further spread and strengthen the spirit of ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’.
