*Kejriwal Government to organise a 3-day mega fair to promote alternatives of single use plastic*

*To promote alternatives to single-use plastic, it has been decided to organise a 3-day fair from July 1 to July 3, 2022 at Thyagaraj Stadium - Gopal Rai*

*Environment Minister Gopal Rai chairs a review meeting regarding the action report of 14 points under the Summer Action Plan*

New Delhi : 24th June 2022-Under the chairmanship of Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai, a review meeting on the Summer Action Plan was held today at the Delhi Secretariat with the officers of concerned departments. Officers from many departments, including the Environment Department, DPCC, DSIIDC, MCD, Education Department, Delhi Police, DTC, I & FC, PWD, DCB, etc., attended the meeting. During the meeting, Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai discussed 14 points of the Summer Action Plan with the officials of various departments. Following the meeting, it was decided to hold a three-day fair at Thyagaraj Stadium from July 1 to July 3 in order to raise awareness of alternate options to single-use plastics.

Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai said, “The government is making constant efforts to reduce Delhi's rising pollution levels. Single-use plastic has been a significant factor in fostering pollution. To stop the usage of single-use plastic items in such circumstances, an awareness campaign is required. In order to promote various alternatives against single-use plastic, the government has planned to hold a 3-day fair at Thyagaraj Stadium from July 1 through July 3. Companies, entrepreneurs, and organisations producing goods related to other alternatives for single-use plastic will participate in this fair and will be able to share their products with consumers on a single platform. In this fair other single-use plastic alternatives like pottery, cloth, bags made of paper and jute, crockery made of biodegradable items will be displayed. In addition, things made from recycled plastic such as trays, vases, stands, photo frames etc., compostable products, compostable food packaging materials, home decor items will also be included in this fair. Entrepreneurs working on other alternatives to single use plastic can log on to the website of Environment Department www.environment.delhigovt.nic.in for registration.”

Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai appealed to all the citizens of Delhi to join hands with the government to encourage and promote start-ups/entrepreneurs producing other single use plastic alternatives and to make Delhi a plastic free city for citizens. Encourage them to use the alternatives of SUPS.

Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai said, “In Delhi, pollution is a constant and significant problem. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party Government has worked tirelessly to reduce Delhi's pollution levels. All of those actions have led to a continuous decrease in the amount of pollution inside Delhi. And this Summer Action Plan has shown to be a more advantageous choice in this regard.”
