CHANDIGARH, 22.01.22-Today on 22nd January, 2022 on the eve of Republic Day as well as Netaji Subhash Chander Bose Jayanti, the Security Wing of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in collaboration with Thalassaemic Charitable Trust PGIMER-GMCH organized 19th Blood Donation Camp at Zakir Hall, Near Bhargava Auditorium, PGI. The camp was inaugurated by Prof. Surjit Singh, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh and was conducted by a team of doctors from the Department of Blood Transfusion PGI, Chandigarh and. Many other senior dignitaries i.e. Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Dy.Director (Admn.), PGIMER, Sh.Kumar Abhay, Financial Adviser, PGIMER, and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, Chandigarh graced the occasion to motivate and appreciate the Blood Donors.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Gursharan Singh Korey, Chief Security Officer, PGI and the officers and staff of Security Wing. Aprox. 325 volunteers from various fraternity i.e. Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, Students, Security Personnel, Hospital Attendants and Sanitary Attendants participated in this camp. About 35 volunteers also pledged for organ donation during this camp. They were registered with Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization, PGIMER. To boost the morale of donors, Officers of Security Wing, PGI and the senior officials of PGIMER were among the few donors who came forward first to donate blood on this occasion. The donors were offered refreshment of tea, coffee, cold drinks, milk, juice and seasonal fruits..

Gifts and mementos which was sponsored by Trident India Group and State Bank of India , Swara Engine Ltd. were presented to the donors as a token of appreciation and recognition of their contribution to the society as a social cause.

Refreshment was also spiritedly served to the volunteers by Verka, Punjab, Vita Haryana and M/s Khandari Breweries. Various senior dignitaries alongwith other senior officials of PGIMER met with the volunteers and appreciated the efforts of Security Department of the Institute for this social cause as well as a patriotic gesture remembering Great Netaji Subhash Chander Bose in such a way.
