CM acclaims collaborated efforts of people as Shimla tops in UDG Index 2021-22

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur acclaimed the collaborated efforts of the people of the state as Shimla city has been placed on top in the country in Urban Development Goals Index 2021-22 released by NITI Aayog recently.

Congratulating the people of the state on this occasion, Jai Ram Thakur said that NITI Aayog, Government of India has included 56 cities which include 44 cities having population of more than 10 lakh and capitals of 12 states with population of less than 10 lakhs. He said that this list has been prepared keeping in view the performance of cities under categories such as poverty, health, education, gender equality, affordable and clean energy and climate action. He said that 46 targets and 77 indicators were fixed for the evaluation of this ranking and Shimla city has got the best position with 75.50 marks out of 100.

Jai Ram Thakur said that although most of the population of the country resides in villages, but cities also play an important role in the development of the country. Therefore, NITI Aayog under the Indo-German Development Corporation, in collaboration with GIZ and BMZ have developed a dashboard for the latest information regarding the Sustainable Development Goals Urban Index.

CM releases collection of poems by Vidyasagar Bhargava

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur released 'Meri Tumahari Kahani, Kavita Ki Jubani', a collection of poems written by Vidyasagar Bhargava here today.

Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Vidyasagar Bhargava and expressed hope that this poetry book would be well received by the readers. He also gave best wishes to the writer for all future endeavours.

MP and State BJP President Suresh Kashyap, Chairman 6th State Finance Commission Satpal Satti, Vice Chairman State Civil Supplies Corporation Baldev Tomar, MLA Chopal Balbir Verma, BJP leaders from Arki Rattan Pal and D.K. Upadhaya were present on the occasion among others.

Six percent DA enhancement to employees of Forest Corporation

Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania presided over the 21st meeting of Board of Directors at Shimla today.

During the meeting BoD decided to give bonus to officials of Forest Corporation for the year 2020-21. It was decided to enhance wages of daily wagers and part time workers of Forest Corporation as per the policy of government. The officers and officials of Forest Corporation would be given Dearness Allowance (DA) of six percent from 1st July, 2021 like state government employees. The contractual employees of the Corporation would also be regularised like state government employees. The BoD also decided to enhance Diwali Bonus of employees working in Rosin and Turpentine factory of Forest Corporation.

Vice Chairman Forest Corporation Surat Singh Negi, Principal Chief Conservator Forest Ajay Srivastav and members of the Board were also present in the meeting.

Prabodh Saxena nominated as member of Technical Advisory Committee

A spokesperson of state government said here today that Additional Chief Secretary (Finance, Planning, Economics and Statistics and 20 point programme) Prabodh Saxena has been nominated as member of Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) in place of Anil Kumar Khachi for consideration of issues connected with ensuing Census 2021 pertaining to Himachal Pradesh

FCI procures more than two lakh quintals of paddy in state, Rs. 38 crore disbursed to 4,000 farmers

A spokesman of the Agriculture Department said here today that with the consistent efforts of the State Government, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has crossed the two lakh quintal mark for procurement of paddy in the state.

He informed that the FCI has bought paddy of farmers through Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee at nine procurement centers in the state. In a special move, the payment of paddy purchased from the farmers is also being made within 24 hours and more than Rs. 38 crore have been transferred to the accounts of approximately four thousand farmers through direct benefits.

He said that from October 15, 2021, paddy procurement has been started through various procurement centers in Sirmaur, Una, Kangra and Solan districts. These procurement centers have been set up at Haripur-Tohana, Kala Amb and Pipliwala in Sirmaur district, Takarla Mandi and Tahliwal in Una district, Fatehpur Mandi and Indora at Tiorah in Kangra district and Nalagarh Mandi and Malpur in Solan district.

So far, about 2,14,311.95 quintals of paddy has been procured through these centers by benefitting about 4,474 farmers. He said that about 1,01,808.78 quintals of paddy has been procured in Sirmaur district, about 19,612.16 quintals in Una, about 51,685.50 quintals in Kangra and 41205.52 quintals approx in Solan district.

The spokesman said that as per the instructions of the State Government and the Agriculture Minister, the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee has played an important role in the procurement process by ensuring timely payment and procurement of the produce of the farmers.
