Chandigarh,24.09.21-PGIMER has been providing all Emergency Services round the clock during the entire COVID 19 pandemic along with essential general OPD services for obstetric, cancer patients of all specialities (like Radiotherapy, Hematology, Pulmonology, Surgical Branches etc) and other semi-urgent conditions. The Institute started new initiative of tele-consultation services on 20th April 2020 for providing general outdoor patient services by all departments.

Subsequently, PGIMER started calling patients for physical visits to the various OPDs by appointment to avoid overcrowding. Services were gradually increased as the pandemic ebbed and accordingly the facility for online registration for physical visit to the OPDs was started on 6th September 2021 with cap of 30 patients per department. The primary aim behind all these initiatives was to prevent exposure of patients with co-morbidities to COVID-19 infection.

In view of the current dip in COVID 19 patients, the institute has decided to attempt further scaling up the general outdoor patient services.

Accordingly, the following protocol will be followed in New OPD of PGIMER from MONDAY i.e. 27/9/2021:

1. Registration for Tele-consultation in NEW OPD will be done from 8 AM to 9 AM on the same phone number as before i.e 0172-275991 which has 19 lines.

2. Registration of walk-in patients for physical visit to the New OPD which was earlier stopped will now be started and will be done from 9.15 AM to 11 AM at the respective registration counters.

3. Online registration for physical visit to all OPDs which is currently capped at 30 patients per department will be increased to 50 for all departments and 100 for Opthalmology, Hepatology & Internal Medicine.

The Institute requests the public visiting OPDs of PGIMER to follow all COVID appropriate behaviour. The fight against COVID 19 is still on and large gatherings of people can lead to spread of COVID 19.
