Chandigarh, August 06, 2021-A webinar on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-India@75’ was organized today by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) & Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chandigarh under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

During the webinar guest speaker Brigadier JS Jaswal (Retd.), Vir Chakra and Sena Medal awardee said that freedom fighters have immense contributions in the history of modern India including the post-independence phase. He shared his experiences of 1971 Indo-Pakistan war and stated the creation of Bangladesh as a historic moment. Stating Army as the best example of unity in diversity, he said that it is the best career for a youngster as it not only gives you a job but also a family.

Another guest speaker, Ms. Seema Sethi, Sister of Captain Vikram Batra, Param Vir Chakra awardee said that her brother was inclined towards Indian Army since childhood. The feeling of patriotism and service to the nation led to his supreme sacrifice in Kargil war in 1999, she added.

In his welcome address, Sh. Himanshu Pathak, Assistant Director, PIB, Chandigarh said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

Ms. Sapna, Assistant Director, ROB Chandigarh moderated the session. Smt. Sangeeta Joshi, Assistant Director, ROB, Chandigarh closed the webinar with a vote of thanks to the speakers and the participants present.

Students from Nehru Yuva Kendra & National Service Scheme and officials of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from the region also participated in the webinar.
