Chandigarh: January 16 : In tandem with the national vaccination drive, PGIMER also kick-started its COVID-19 Vaccination Drive today at the Vaccination Centre in Advanced Paediatric Centre.

Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, inaugurated the Vaccination Drive in the august presence of other dignitaries including Prof G.D. Puri, Dean (Academics), Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, DDA, Prof. Surinder S. Pandav, Chairman COVID-19 Vaccination Committee, Prof. Vipin Koushal, acting Medical Superintendent, Prof Ashok Kumar, Additional Medical Superintendent, Prof.Madhu Gupta, Dept. of Community Medicine, Dr Mahesh Devnani, Joint Medical Superintendent, Dept. of Hospital Administrationand many other faculty members, nursing officers and healthcare workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER said, “It is a momentous occasion for us. The peerless and fearless team of PGIMER put in their best efforts to save precious lives without caring for their comfort or convenience. So the vaccine is in a way reward for their incessant hard work and commitment over the last ten months. Their health and safety is our utmost priority and we intend to inoculate the entire workforce of over 12,000 of PGIMER.”

Prof, Surinder S. Pandav, Chairman COVID-19 Vaccination Committee at PGIMER shared, “The entire team had been working really hard to put everything in place for the D –Day. As a result, the much anticipated Vaccine Drive ran smoothly today and we successfully inoculated over 100 healthcare workers comprising doctors, nursing officers, technicians and hospital and sanitation attendants and others.”

Brimming with confidence, Dr Manjinder Singh Randhawa, a resident posted in Paediatric Emergency who received the first shot urged others to have faith in science and join the drive as he came out of the vaccination room after getting the shot. The vaccinators who manned the vaccination site were also excited.

Dr. Kirtan Rana from Dept. of Community Medicine along with Ms Jasvir Kaur, Nursing Officer and others were elated for showing trust in them by authorities for this important and mammoth task.
