Chandigarh : January 14: Mr. Vijay Passi a well-known local philanthropist from Sector 5, Chandigarh dedicated to the cause of poor and destitute humanity, lent a helping hand to the needy patients as he donated a hefty amount of Rs.10,00,000/- for the Poor Patient Welfare Fund of PGIMER today.

Mr Passi handed over the cheque amounting Rs. 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) to Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER in his office today.

Expressing his gratitude and thanking Mr. Passi for his benign act, Prof. Jagat Ram stated, “There are people who don’t donate because they assume everyone else is, and there are those who take up the torch and run with it. Thank you for being the latter and for your kind and heart-warming donation.”

“With each donation we receive, we become all that much closer to our goal of helping destitute patients. People like Mr. Passi make the world a better place through their compassion and generosity,” added Prof. Jagat Ram.

The donations are accepted either through cheque (in favour of Director PGIMER) or Demand Draft at the poor patient cell near the Main Reception, Nehru Hospital under section 80G of the income tax act. Institute has also started the facility of online donations on the Institute website- pgimer.edu.in. After making a donation directly to the PGIs Poor Patient Fund account, the person can download a receipt too. The donors need not physically come to the poor patient cell of PGIMER to donate.

PGIMER appeals to the public to generously donate for this fund so that the poor patients are provided with super specialty health care.
