Chandigarh : January 13 : It was an ambience of hope and happiness, positivity and rejuvenation at PGIMER on the day of Lohri as Jammu Dogra Sabha dedicated to social causes, commended the corona warriors for their relentless fight against the pandemic, while wishing them happy and healthy Lohri at a very engaging event organised at NHE Block here at PGIMER today.

Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Director was accompanied by other dignitaries including Prof. G.D.Puri, Dean (Academics) & Head Deptt. of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Prof. A.K.Gupta, Medical Superintendent cum Head, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, DDA, Mr. Kumar Abhay, FA, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Addl. Medical Superintendent & In-charge Covid Hospital, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Addl. Medical Superintendent & Official Spokesperson and many other senior faculty members, nursing officers and healthcare workers who were present there while maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jagat Ram said, “Having over 85% of recoveries of severe and moderate COVID 19 positive cases definitely marks a milestone for our front line warriors, giving them a reassurance, a reiteration of faith that their incessant efforts have helped their patients win this battle of COVID-19. Rising to the occasion, the PGIMER team demonstrated extraordinary capacity for hard work and innovation, competence and courage.”

Earlier detailing about PGIMER’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Prof. Vipin Koushal stated, “Treating around 3000 COVID patients, most of them with co-morbid conditions has been a huge challenge for the treating team due to compromised immunity owing to other ailments. But it is indeed extremely gratifying to see all the teams from different specialties in PGIMER working in tandem to face this big challenge and being instrumental in saving so many lives."

Jammu Dogra Sabha presented a photo collage of frontline warriors and a memento to the leadership team of PGIMER. “The words cannot express the gratitude that we owe to doctors, nurses, paramedic staff fighting the pandemic to save human lives,” said Mr. Vishal Bhardwaj, General Secretary, Jammu Dogra Sabha, while handing over the gifts of gratitude to the frontline heroes who are healing the suffering humanity against COVID-19.

The ceremony was marked by lighting the bonfire, distribution of sweets and making the COVID hospital into a very lively and vibrant place.
