Dated: 29th October, 2020-Hon’ble Governor, Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore held a crime review meeting with senior functionaries of Chandigarh Administration on 28.10.2020 via Video Conferencing. The meeting was attended by the Advisor to Administrator, DGP, DIG UT, SSP UT, SP Headquarter & Crime and SP City wherein the Hon’ble Governor reviewed the crime w.e.f 01.01.2020 to 27.10.2020 and the new initiatives taken by Chandigarh Police.

The Governor expressed his concerns over the shooting incidents in Chandigarh and directed the Police Department to arrest all the culprits at the earliest. Moreover, Advisor to Administrator raised his concern over raising Motor Vehicle Theft. The DGP apprised the Hon’ble Governor about the progress of the investigation of these incidents and the preventive measures that are being taken in the city.

SSP UT appraised regarding sharing of Information regarding movement of gangsters, Sharing of terror and gangster related intelligence and inputs and regarding checking of Pubs and Bars. Moreover special nakas and intensive Night checking is conducted outside the Pubs and bars.

Hon’ble Governor directed DGP to make sure that all the bouncers deployed at the Pubs and Bars must to be verified and their proper record needs to be maintained. Moreover, licensing authorities to take action against clubs/bars operating without proper verification of staff and bouncers.

The DGP stated that Chandigarh Police has successfully worked out such sensational cases in the past and assured that no effort will be spared in solving these cases as expeditiously as possible. Intensive patrolling, increased number of Nakas and enhanced Police visibility on the streets of Chandigarh have been deployed to nab the active criminals in the city.

Hon’ble H.E. conveyed for better quality of policing for the resident of Chandigarh administration should urgently set up mechanism to fund research for Cyber and Psychology Department of Panjab University in police & related work.

Hon’ble H.E. also directed that police department needs to be stream lined and he directed that interim report of Reorganisation Chandigarh police Commission chaired by Shri K. B. Singh be submitted at the earliest for discussion.
