Chandigarh-12,Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, a registered training center under Chandigarh Skill Development Mission (CSDM), concluded the 8-week online translation course- 'Beyond Boundaries: Creating a World of Understanding' in collaboration with the National Translation Mission (NTM), Centre for Indian Languages, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Organized under the aegis of the Skill Development Committee of the college, the course sought to equip the participants with translation skills required in the flourishing multilingual world of literature, cinema, theatre, anchoring, print and social media. The valedictory session of the course was graced by Mr. Tariq Khan, Officer-in-Charge, NTM as Guest of Honour and distinguished translator Prof. Rana Nayar as the resource person.

Speaking at the event, Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava informed that the programme was designed to stimulate the growth of the nation by empowering the stakeholders with requisite skills so as to enable them to be job providers. She added that the course was in sync with MCM's vision of creating employment avenues through skill development and it also incorporates the ethos of the New Education Policy 2020 that emphasizes teaching and learning of Indian languages to be integrated with school and higher education at every level. Prof. Tariq Khan underlined the need for such courses and their growing significance in the present scenario. Speaking about the immense potential in the field of translation, Prof. Rana Nayar motivated the participants to make good use of the skills learnt during this course. The course was navigated by eminent resource persons from the practical and theoretical field of translation. 60 participants from across the country, ranging from Jammu to Tamil Nadu and Goa to West Bengal, benefitted from the course. The participants were also awarded certificates.
